|I ran a search and didn't see a thread for this here, but it appears that back on the 19th a ferry "hard-docked" when it was coming into the TTC:

LAKE BUENA VISTA -- A ferry boat at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom was out of service for part of Saturday night after a hard-docking.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. at the Transportation Ticketing Center.

A Disney spokesman said about 20 people were aboard the ferry when the hard-docking occurred.

Three people with very minor injuries were transported to Reedy Creek Emergency Services as a precaution, according to a Reedy Creek spokesman.

Also, one of the people on the Laughing Place.com boards who was on the ferry stated:

The ferry was traveling from Magic Kingdom to Transportation Cent when the boat was going to dock it ran right into the dock and sent people on the ferry flying. 18 people were injuried, 2 were taken off on back boards and strechers, others in wheel chairs they were taken to two local hospitals. I was one of the people injuried when the ferry hit the dock.

I found it funny that it hadn't been posted here, and I was kinda trying to avoid the negative publicity for watercraft. Hard dockings happen occassionally. Things like wind have a serious effect on the maneuverability of a ferry boat which in turn calls for greater speed/momentum. Hopefully this doesn't cause the lawyers to clog up the decks of the boats with handrails.

Edit: I would like to further note that there is a safety spiel before docking that warns guests that since we are free-floating vessel that things can get bumpy during docking.

I've been on boats that had hard dockings before at WDW, not every incident requires a thread...life happens. Minor injuries, people checked out as a precaution, been thru that before too.

It`s a boat. It floats. It bumps. I`ve had a hard dock. I also fell off my bike as a kid.

No doubt some guests will be looking for comp. I`m happy it wasn`t splashed all over the forums. We`re not the Sentinal are we?

The post from Laughing Place reminds me of the Photoshopped image that was circulated after 9/11 of the guy on the observation deck right as a plane was hitting one of the towers. Given the highly varying account between the news story and the LP post, it seems like just someone who wants everyone to think that they were at the event without actually being there.

Aww come on. We all know that Disney pays off the Sentinel, OSHA and the NTSB to skew accident reports in their favor.:lol:

Yes
some of that info from laughing place is accurate. However, people did not "go flying" Had people been on the stairs when this occured, THEN they would have gone flying, but I know the guy who was upper deckhand quite well, and he is a huge stickler about people not being on the stairs during docking. People fell down. They did not go flying.

...This comes after the July Monorail Incident that killed a Cast Member....
:rolleyes::brick:

At lest no one was hurt too badly, and the news isn't having a field day.

You would think that they would know about primacy and recency....

Well, you hate to say it, but the reason the boat accident wasn't covered by the press is that no one was badly hurt or worse.....

The Sentinel doesn't ask the right questions. They seem too spoon fed.

I'm 3 years since i had daily sources as to what goes on and I could still do a better job.

It needs to be said though; hard dockings happen all the time so they really aren't news. Had there been more than minor injuries (people get hurt worse falling off the curbs at WDW) then I'm sure a larger story would be warranted.

To Quote Hooper From Jaws "This was no boat accident!" Hard Dockings do happen... I think calling this an accident is a little mis leading.. I would say it is more of an incident... I am sure some will want to be comped... I just home no one sues

People sued because they got wet ankles when a raft going to TSI at DL partially sunk. You can bet the farm that if someone skinned a knee due to Disney that they will be at a lawyers office inside of 24 hours.

Oh lord, after the monorail crash, bus crash, and now the boat accident, I guess disney transportion is never safe . No I'm only kidding, Of course it is safe!

The actual post read:

When asked about their injuries:

Best reply....
Was your shift key damaged in the collision as well?
