Could World of Color be the key to DAK staying open late?

That seems like a wise choice.

I had the odd mental image of a colored spotlight being aimed at a patch of grass with a small pyro fountain coming out of it.:lookaroun:lol::lol:
I would just like to see something a bit out of the box. It seems like all of the nighttime shows in WDW, DL, US, etc are either based on water or are a fireworks show or a combination of the two. I would like to see what WDI could do if they were told to create a show with no water and no things that go boom.

There is SOME pyro, but for the most part, Tokyo's "Dream Again" is all lights on the Castle, Dancers, and Foamheads.

That would be truley interesting. If they could some how work in some live animals into the show that would be stellar. I guess they would have to be nocturnal

OK when the Simba float hits is mark release the vampire bats at the guests!

I to would love to see what they could do. Sometimes restrictions and constraints will make you think of things you never would have thought of with incredible results.

:dazzle:

Yeah, that would just freak me out a bit.

Maybe a nightly smaller light show display area where they currently have the dinosaurs that are getting lost in the jungle before you get to the Dinosaus ride. This area is wasted in it's current use. Some smaller light displays that would allow you to walk around this area. Would be small scale compared to all other shows but maybe it would help to cut their costs(not everything has to be big to be cool). If they could think of something really cool that might work.

How deep is Discovery River... because you would have to drain that.

I can't imagine it would be drainable since it's connected to Bay Lake. :/

But now Bay Lake runs through Epcot and DAK.

While Bay Lake is connected to Bonnet Creek, Village Lake and the Sassagoula River via canals, I don't believe *all* WDW bodies of water are fully interconnected. Most of them can (or already are) isolated.

In many places, Disney needs to have absolute control over the water levels in the waterways. That's why you'll see water levels fluctuate in Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon where it's OK for it to happen, and to a lesser extent Village Lake and the Sassagoula. But with the in-park waterways they need total control of the water level.

So the water level in the Epcot/Crescent Lake/Studios waterway will always be the same level. (And while they don't really have a *need* to do it, they could conceivably build a dam at the International Gateway and empty World Showcase Lagoon. Though then you get into the issue of what do they do with the Friendships)

The Rivers of America, while connected to Seven Seas Lagoon via a canal and lock, is always kept at the same water level.

I would presume that it's the same setup with Discovery River in AK. The River might be connected to the ponds that are SE and SW of the park, but that'd be it.

There are canals/streams that run throughout the property, channeling water where it's needed within the natural and man-made waterways, but the closest those appear to come to AK is a little to the east of the park. If you could successfully portage around the various flood gates along the canals, you could conceivably paddle a small canoe from the northern service area above the MK, around through the Palm and Magnolia golf courses, down to a point about halfway between Everest and Coronado Springs, but then the aerial imagery differs from the regular map... They may have rerouted that stream/canal underground somewhere through there. (looks like there might be something that turns east toward Coronado)

Wow, I think that was about three different possible discussions all wrapped into one post. ;)

They would build a small caufer damn and divert the water, then simply drain the DAK lake and store the water. In my business I see thhis a lot and it is not as hard as you would think.

I'm sure seating could be built at the extreme right hand side of Discovery Isalnd.
http://wikimapia.org/#lat=28.3577095&lon=-81.5885711&z=17&l=0&m=b

Or the body of water behind Dinoland could be expanded.

Did this a couple of months ago.... (not done to scale)

I inspected those areas while at AK a couple weeks ago and these two major seating plots would be possible.

Great Job!!! :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy: I love the double sided seating but wouldn't you have to make two of certain things?
