Florida Resident Weekday Select Annual Pass

I heard that Florida Residents will be able to purchase a new kind of seasonal weekday-restricted pass sometime soon for the theme parks. Don't know if it is replacing the seasonal pass, but it does have block out dates.

To me it sounds more like something Disneyland would also be receiving since it's having so many capacity issues with it's flock of APers.

Disneyland's had this for a while now. It's called the "So-Cal Select" and it's M-F only with seasonal blackouts in addition to the weekends. They have 4 levels of pass out in California. So-Cal Select, So-Cal, Deluxe, and Premium. So-Cal select is only about $144 (no tax either) so it's far cheaper for Californian's to get a basic DL pass than it is for Floridians to get a basic WDW pass. I'd be in favor of it being brought here, would help bring the parks closer to those without lots of excess spending money.

I think if FL did something similar to CA in terms of offering cheaper (albeit more restricted) APs, we'd have a larger AP base...and a more vocal AP base. That prospect makes me salivate. :)

Disneyland already has this, and has had it for years. It can create huge crowds on the days before and just after an extended blockout period begins or ends. Beware!

Though Disneyland has a much larger population within day-trip driving distance of the parks.

With parking at $14 a pop, tho, doesn't even going once a month put this on par with a "full" AP? May even be a worse deal if you factor in the extra 3 months the full AP gives you (and, I suppose, the anemic discounts around property).

If WDW is really interested in bringing in more casual local fans--and this new option seems to indicate they are--I would think the best option would be the monthly payment option that Uni and Sea World do. That is the #1 complaint I hear, you can't spread out the payments.

Sounds like a good value for those who don't mind skipping weekends or work on them.

As for parking, I hear All Stars have lots of spaces and magical buses that will take you to the parks for free ...

I wonder why they don't go back to having APs for the individual parks like they once did as well. The EPCOT After 4 is the only vestige of that and most people have no clue it exists.

Weekday Pass

I think this is a good idea and cheaper. Parking might not be an issue if you park at one of the resorts nearest Disney as it's free. Plus during the week it's not as crowded which make for a very "magical" day.
