Question for Cruisers

Hello Cruisers

We're heading off for our first Disney cruise in about a month and we were wondering about attire.

We've read all the books and have heard that on non-formal night it is "resort casual" in the dining rooms but we've also seen where it says no jeans. Jeans are prety much the only thing I wear, so I was wondering do they allow say a nice pair of intact (none of this wholly/ripped/bleached thing) jeans w/ a casual shirt be fine? The boyfriend was planning on wearing jeans w/ a polo.

I wore pretty much the same thing on a past Carnival cruise and it was fine.

If anyone has any input, it would be much appreciated.

If you are wearing jeans they are not going to throw you out of the dining room. They recommend no jeans, no shorts, and shirts with a collar.

I will admit to wearing shorts to Parrot Cay one night. Nice shorts, not some down to mid-calf cargo pockets in camo things. Golf shorts.

You should be OK with jeans and a polo. But to be honest, a pair of kahkis would be better. However, again, even on the semi-formal night I have seen people in shorts - on two cruises. I wear slacks, a sport coat and tie to the semi-formal.

If you are on a 3 or 4 night cruise there is no formal night, its semi-formal. The 5 and 7 night ones do have a formal night, but I have not been on them.

Phonedave is absolutely right. They would prefer you don't wear jeans, but they will not turn you away.

The only place where a dress code is enforced is Palo, and it is enforced very strictly there.

Thanks guys.

We're going on a 7 night, so I do plan on bringing a couple of pairs of dress pants for things like Palo but I just really do feel more comfortable in jeans. The DBF will probably pack more khakis now that you've mentioned it.

FYI the ship does have on board laundry and dry cleaning, that is pretty reasonable. They have the do your own laundry, but they also have laundry and dry cleaning services.

Since the irons are down the hall in the laundry room, it can be a pain to iron stuff.

I had my shirts pressed, and my jacked cleaned and pressed for about $10

Its something to consider. Instead of trying to jam many pairs of khakis into a suitcase and ending up wrinkling everything in there. Just pack two pairs, and plan to spend $10 to have them both cleaned once. If he (or you) are just wearing them for dinner, then you can get more than one wearing out of them.

Its also nice to come back to your room from a long shore excursion to change for dinner and find your pants cleaned and pressed and hanging there waiting for you.

Just a thought. It's the little things like that make a vacation a vacation for me. Some people dont see the value. All valid opinions.
