Brown Derby Major Menu Change

Hi everyone, I did a quick scan for this but didnt see it already posted,,,,ate at the Brown Derby yesterday 9/5. And they no longer have a lunch menu, the dinner menu is the new all day menu, price wise its ridiculous for lunch on certain items. They still have the cobb salad but now its considered an appetizer. The liguini pasta with the shrimp and clams is gone. A couple other items looked to be the same but the rest were all dinner items at dinner prices. We noticed a couple of different couples get up and walk out after seeing the menu. Not a very wise change right now. We didnt feel it was worth it but of course still love the atmosphere, I just think its outlandish for lunch.

We still like Brown Derby and we're going there for lunch on our first full day. I was thinking of only ordering the Cobb Salad anyway. Reading this now pretty much finalizes that decision.

Brown Derby stopped being a great restaurant about 4 years ago, it's still good, but pricy and not what it used to be. On a hot day though, going in there for lunch of a Cobb salad, a bottle of Pellegrino, and the coconut shrimp appetizer was really refreshing.

I love the Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower. :slurp: Glad to see it's still on the menu.

I used to love the Grouper, but they changed the recipe and I did not care as much for it on my last visit.

Two years ago me and my wife just wanted to get a cocktail and relax outside, we were told no because "This is a fine dining establishment" after that, never would eeven cnsider the place> I am also a chef, and the prices they are charging are way over inflated. cost on most things would be $6, except for the ribeye, which would be $9. Pompous a----- there!:brick:

Wow.

I used to prefer The Brown Derby for lunch over dinner. A much better value and you can only get the Mussels app on the lunch menu

Well the mussels are still only on the lunch menu, but any shred of value went right out the window.

I am really becomming frustrated with WDW dining as of late. I know you are going to pay a higher price point because its WDW, but I was just in Manhattan on Saturday, and was able to get a very decent Beef Carpaccio, A Cioppino (LOADED with seafood) and a house Chaniti for roughly $35 - All in an atmosphere much more plesant than most WDW restaruants.

Do any of you remember when the Brown Derby had the piano in the middle? I'll never forget my 18th birthday the player had everyone sing happy birthday. The place was a crown jewel to me then, it still looks good but special things like that are gone. And they use to always decorate for Christmas, this past year they did nothing but a tree in the lobby.
So whats the best way to complain about the menu? Just go to guest relations and do it nicely? I dont think letters or emails get very far.

Yeah,

Caught Avenue Q before it closed for good.

Don't ask me the name of the place becuase I could not tell you. One of those theater district first floor of a brownstone places that come and go every month.

I never look at the names because chances are they will not be there a few months later.

That was exactly what I was imagining. I have had some good food in some of those places.

Yep, Brown Derby used to be one of the classies restaurants in Disney, unfortunately, as with many thing, including merchandising, they are going for quantity over quality and playing to the masses (although that could be argued with the current economy). The piano, service, and food were all top notch.

Thanks for the info. It's still my favorite restaurant in the studios. As it is, it's already one of the pricier restaurants in the park. I would definitely say those prices are too high for lunch time, looks like it will be a dinner only restaurant for me from now on.
