I can't bring back my stuff on the airplane?

We have planned our first trip to Disneyfor our family of 7, and we are flying :sohappy:. I was wanting to buy probably lots of stuff to bring back , but I really wanted to get a nice snow globe to remeber our first trip. I have heard that I will not be able to bring it back on the airplane. Does anyone know if this is correct? :veryconfuIf so, does anyone know of a place that I could possibly ship it back home? :veryconfu

You can't put it in carry-on. No liquid in quantities of more than 3oz. If you pack it carefully, you could put it in checked luggage. If you're not comfortable packing it, shipping it home is your only other option.

I'm a snow-globe-aholic and buy 3-4 each trip. I have never had a problem with packing them in my checked bags. They come in a box with styrofoam and I usually pack them pretty snug in my clothes but there's nothing to worry about. Shipping it home is an option but I feel better with them in my suitcase. I cringe when I see them throwing the suitcases on the plane knowing what's inside mine but I assume postal workers use the same care. At least I can check that all is well once we land.

You can always arrange shipping to your home when and wherever you purchase the snowglobe. You can ship anything except food items.

We bought a load of pottery one year and it went back home in the aircraft hold - no problem. Those very nice staff at Virgin put "fragile" labels all over the bag and everything made it to the UK in one piece. Just pack your bags carefully

We also brought snowglobes back in our checked in luggage last trip. Make sure it's wrapped well and stow it wrapped in some clothes. Ours was inspected by the TSA and they re wrapped it close to the way we had originally.

Also... If [God forbid] your snowglobe happens to break in transit, call the number on your receipt and tell them what happened. Disney is pretty good about replacing damaged items. :king:

Yes, been there, done that. I had a snowglobe taken from me at the airport due to my miss-packing items. I did not realize this until too late. The next year all stores started placing signs about how to shipping and packaging your snowglobe! Good luck!

Please consider having Disney ship some of your items to your home. We were recently there and shopped at the Christmas store at DTD. We purchased some "breakables" and other items and had them shipped to our home. They arrived yesterday (within 6 days of our return) and everything was in great shape. :)

I would like to add that this is the exception and not the rule. While the TSA won't usually leave your bags a mess when they search, they generally don't put things back the way they were.

I'm wondering... if Disney ships it and it gets broken, would they replace it? If you pack it in your luggage and it gets broken, you're out of luck?

Ship it home. Its a fairly quick process, I think most stores (if not all) do it and it is reasonably priced.

We had bought a bunch of stuff on our honeymoon, most of it was breakable things. We had it at our room and they gave us a box to put everything in and even some packing materials and we took it to the desk to get weighed and shipped out. It arrived home 2 or 3 days after we got home, we shipped it the day before we left.
