New phone hold music for "Disney Parks"

Well, I am on the phone waiting to speak to a WDW representative (the billing resolutions line, 407-828-5630), and the "waiting" music is now like a radio station. It is not Radio Disney, but a special "Disney Parks" hold music stream, complete with a DJ promoting the music who says things like, "That was (insert teen pop group here) with their version of ____ from Disney Channel's 'Playhouse Disney,' which can be heard live at the Playhouse Disney theatre at Disney's Hollywood Studios and at Disney's California Adventure!" as he excitedly goes to the next song. All of the music is also announced to be "from the current Walt Disney Records or Hollywood Records release, (insert 'Disney Channel Mania' volume number here)."

And of course, he continually mentions "Disney Parks" instead of Walt Disney World.

No more classic Disney film music, and the march of "Disney Parks" homogenization goes on...

(Has anyone here really thought about what they are doing to California Adventure also? It is more of the same... take out the "California" theme and throw characters everywhere. More homogenization of the "Disney Parks.")

When I contacted reserverations I had the Future World Loop and Golden Dreams on hold..And this was about a day ago.
I get this all the time for some reason.

I also get a song that sounds like it would be from Fantasmic, but it don't think it actually is. I really like it though...wish I knew what it was.

The new hold music must be VERY new, because it was clearly designed to be "Disney Parks" radio yesterday... with a radio style DJ and everything. I wonder if it is on all lines.

You mean like regular "Disney" music? Or stuff from the parks?

It was like Radio Disney, promoting new releases by Disney pop stars or kids' records (like a "Disney Mania" or "Playhouse Disney" thing), but they did mention an attraction where the song might be relevant (like "Playhouse Disney Live" in Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's California Adventure).

From what I heard it was all music from current Disney or Hollywood Records releases, mostly pop acts, although some were children's records.

But they used that radio DJ style and kept mentioning "Disney Parks" generically, with any attraction mentioned was cross-referenced to the park in California or Florida (like the Playhouse Disney Live example above) where you might find it.

To me, it sounds much more personal (and not that more expensive) to have separate hold music for the place that you called and are presumably planning a vacation for. The current Disney Parks crap lends itself to the idea that they are all the same (you know, castles and characters), and there is no reason to even think about visiting a different park, much less a whole different resort 3,000 miles away. And this phone spiel just adds to that perception.

But, given that the new makeover at DCA is stripping the park of its "California" characteristics and just overlaying it all with Disney characters, it seems like that is what the company thinks these days: all parks are the same, just throw the Fab Four at it and we're good!

Sigh.

They just don't understand what made America and the world recognize WDW (or Disneyland for that matter) as unique and wonderful... and above the rest. It's not the charaters (plural), but instead real and unique CHARACTER (that is, quality and imagination... inspiration to go above and beyond), not just homogenization and pop schmaltz.

The music I heard? Horrible Demi Lovato (sorry, I'm very much NOT a fan!). I was told it was all part of Disney's "new" cross-promotion.

Horrible, horrible. To be very honest, it actually gave me a headache (I was on and off hold for 31 minutes). This was while I was trying to get a break-down of my bill :dazzle:
