GM Test Track Sponsorship Removed from GM Website

So Nestle pulls out of The Land, GM likely pulling out of Test Track (give them credit for sticking around 26 years), Nobody at UoE for quite some time, the loss of Metlife at WoL was its demise, The Seas with Nemo without a sponsor for quite some time (wondering if the live animals in the display tanks isn't what saved this attraction).

We're left with Kodak at Imagination, HP at Mission to Mars and Siemens at SSE. That could be bad for the continued improvement of Future World.

Given the current economic situation, this isn’t something that can be held on to as happening only at WDW. Sponsorships are drying up left and right. This isn’t an epidemic that has its self infecting only WDW…as much as some people will want it to be.

Professional sports teams are losing sponsors right along with the venues in which they play, racing teams around the globe are very worried…heck, even Honda has pulled their F1 team for 2009.

Besides…this isn’t really a surprise. I am not sure how much Disney actually likes having GM as a sponsor right now…know what I mean.

Thanks for reminding everyone that Disney isn't the only place losing sponsorship. It truly is spreading all over the place! Hopefully the remaining sponsors are so well invested that pulling out isn't a necessity.

Just because EPCOT was built upon sponsorships, doesn't mean the spirit of Future World can't continue with Disney leadership and ingenuity. Disney just needs to remember that it can be creative if its will to allow itself to do so.

Nestle pulls out of The Land

When did this happen??

As of two days ago Nestle's logo was still all over The Land and included in every Land attractions spiel.

GM was still all over TT as well. As a matter of fact, they were trying to sell me a new Camaro every time I got off.

Now McDonald's and Dinosaur is a different story altogether....

Did you mean to link to the 1999/2000 report?

Most of the information with the other sponsors is dated...by about six years. I was wondering if this was the correct link, as well.

Plus most of these organizations are non-profits. I don't see why they would want to list Disney with these orgs.

I thought Nestle's logos were down earlier in the year? All the reports talked about it for awhile? I honestly haven't been there since July, 2007 and this all happened after. Or so I read. Great if they didn't.

GM isn't confirmed, but likely. Especially if they've noted their sponsorship in the past and now it's removed from their list.

I also agree, this isn't Disney specific. But, when it comes to Epcot it seems like the only love a pavilion gets is if a sponsor puts up the funds. Nemo is an exception, but I personally think it was a video screen downgrade.

Here's hoping Disney uses their sponsorless freedom to do something better or finds a new one to partner with them. The transportation pavilion wouldn't have to be sponsored by or themed around cars... I'm just saying...

This is what I was thinking as well. I remember the rumor showing up a couple months ago when the Nestle logo was removed from the park map...but the logo is still all over the pavilion and the attractions...though I think they're mentioned on the Spiels...not the Spills!

I think it is pavilion....not pavillion!

I'm not one to get petty when it comes to a usage error, type-o or misspelled. They happen as a result of people not being perfect. I fixed my error, maybe you want to do the same?

The 2009 UG still says Nestle is sponsoring the pavilion, I believe. I'll have to double-check, but I seem to remember reading that a few days ago.

GM will probably pull out of TT if their contract is up or Disney will let them out of it somehow. I just don't know what this will mean for the attraction which is so heavily rooted in GM propaganda.

ADDITION: It appears I was wrong.....not the first time....sorry!

Thought this was fun...

Off the Tips sidebar of the Land Site on Disney.com:

"Before The Circle of Life and Food Rocks begin, be sure to check out the lobby walls for fascinating facts and figures about the environment and food, respectively."

Wow....update much?

On my trip on 11/19, here's what I noticed:

Nestle sponsorship is missing from both the guidemap and the main pavilion sign at the base of the ramp. However, the Nestle logos are still located on the two "The Land" signs next to the entrace doors, as well as on the signs for Circle of Life, Soarin', and Sunshine Seasons. As far as Living with the Land, I can't remember whether or not Nestle was still in the speil, but I'm fairly certain it was. On the whole, it really is hard to figure out whether or not they are still a sponsor.

And TT is missing from GMs site? Hmmmmm... Lets just say it wouldn't be surprising.
