We are staying at WL from Dec. 12-17 and off site until the 22. Just got a great price for a car about $200 for the 10 days. Is it worth it to have a car for the convinece? 1 yo DS and 6 yo DD will be with us.

Yes. Especially with a 1-yr old (meltdowns can happen anytime, and this way you're not dealing with it with a bus full of strangers), and spending half your vacation off-site. While at WL, I'd use it to get everywhere except MK, then once off-site, you'll be really glad you have it.

I would go for it for a couple of reasons ... one being if you plan on staying at the parks til closing , it's much better to get into your own car than have to wait for a bus that you may have to stand up on for the whole ride while holding exhausted kids ( been there, done that ), also you can go shopping for cheaper souviners off property, if you want to go resort hopping to see how they are decorated ( a must do in my opinion) you only have to show your resort id to get in and park, and depending on your plans and where you're staying during the last 5 days of your stay ... have a great time and welcome to Florida :xmas:

If it is within your budget, yes. We did not rent one the first time we took our kids (they were 12 months and 4 years old at the time). On our next trip about 7 months later, we decided to rent one. The difference was amazing.

At the end of a long day when you've got sleepy kids and a stroller (or in our case 2 strollers) it is SO nice not to have to stand in line for a bus, then stand on a crowded bus with a bunch of other sweaty and grumpy people while trying to hold a sleeping child and a folded up stroller. Some people complain about the trams, but they are not a big deal....much easier to deal with than a bus. Several times we got lucky at Epcot and DHS and were able to park close enough that we did not have to even use the trams.

The only park we did not drive to was the MK because it was much easier and faster to take the boat from the WL, where we stayed. For all the other parks, driving our own car made a huge difference in time and convenience.

We've rented one ever since, and as long as it fits in our budget we will continue to do so.

Car rental is a huge benefit in WDW. You can go from resort to resort (Disney Transportation will not do that) and you can go from parks to other destinations. We also take stuff we don’t want to carry through the parks in the cars so if we really need it I can go back out to the parking lot. If it were back at the resort I would not be going back for it.

We stay at a monorail resort and even then we end up using the car a few times during the week.

Having just went through being down there this past year with a 1 year old as well, having a car is godsent and I highly recommend it, especially at the rate you received.

I have done the trip without a car for years and the last few years we have been renting a car....I would diffidently say RENT THE CAR! You have no idea how much time you save driving yourself from park to park and everywhere in between.

No waiting at bus stops, no waiting for the next bus, no driving to 2 other resorts for pick ups, no standing on the bus after a long day...on and on....its magical in itself to just get in the car and GO!

SIDENOTE: TIKIMAN! Duuuude! your website is awesome! You saved me from staying in a "small" Poly room....you rock my friend!

Just agreeing with everyone else, a car is worth it for convenience and speed, even on property. WL to MK via boat will probably be faster, but the car will be better than bus for places like DTD or other resorts for dinner. While you are off property, I would say that a car is almost a must. FWIW.
