Are there ever any Grand Californian deals?

Having visited the incredibly impressive lobby area of the Grand Californian on our trip to Disneyland last month (and having taken a "tour" of the pool area and the Storyteller Cafe), I am now chomping at the bit to stay - somehow, some way - at that hotel when we return to California next summer.

Are there ever any Grand Californian deals/discounts that might make the place a tad more affordable?

Im with CaesarBoxFan on this the only significant discount I'v seen is if your an AP. With rates around $279 the lowest I'v seen on the AP site thats with a standard view on select nights. Paradise Pier Hotel goes for $139 with an AP.

I stayed there this summer only because I got on to check the price at the Disneyland hotel. Got off the computer to figure some things out and run some numbers then got back on and the only thing left was GCH so it booked that fast!! It is VERY COOL but very expensive! It was cool to walk right into downtown Disney too!!

Your right I was checking the site to see what the prices were for fall but but to find everything was booked. Travelocity came up with a family parlor suite for $679 a night. Good thing there adding more rooms now if only they would update the DLH towers....

They have AAA discounts, and I believe Military discounts. If you call to book thru Disney directly, ask! Also if you stay during a value season it is cheaper. The Grand Californian is a luxery hotel and well worth every penny spent staying there. Have you maybe considered staying there for only a night or two then moving to DLH or DPP?

Tell me more about the AAA discounts - since I actually have that card, but rarely take advantage (or even know) of the discounts available to me with that service.

We're looking to stay 3 nights during mid-July next summer (and then following it up with 5 nights in San Diego for Comicon).

My experience with AAA discounts and AAA Travel Agents have been FANTASTIC. AAA usually gets the biggest discounts on Disney packages since they are the "Official" travel company for Disney. I believe the discounts range between 15-20% depending on time of year etc. IF you are going in July, DO NOT GO the week of July 4th. It is CRAZY busy!
With their travel agents, you can pay over time as long as the balance is paid in full like 45 days (I think) before your departure. I love them!

Question about this stuff.

I'm heading out to DL for Dec 13th- Dec 19th 2009. There are 2 of us. Looks like booking regularly at Paradise Pier will cost us about $2,050 for 6 nights including 2 6 day park hopper tickets.

Would it be cheaper if I were to buy one Deluxe annual pass and take advantage of a passholder discount for the room? Are there usually discounts in the beginning of Dec and if there are are they easy to come by? I'm alittle worried about those dates falling into the blackout (looks like its usually starts the saturday before Xmas).

what do you guys think?

Right now we're planning on the Embassy Suites Anahiem South. I have a quote of $1700.

Thanks for the help!

Wow I didnt even know they sold 6 day hoppers. A 5 day is $244.00 and a Deluxe is $269.00 so 26 dollar difference. You also get the AP discounts on dinning 10% off and a few other nice perks.

Just checked the AP section of the site it's not currently listing your arrival date but the highest I see for PPH with standard view is $226(Nov. 25) a night, the lowest is $139 (Nov. 1) so the price changes depending on the dates and once and a while there are no AP rates on select nights like Sept. 22-27.

Also your dates at DLR are unblocked, the blocked days in Dec; are Dec. 20- Dec. 31.

Thanks for the info...I'm really thinking about going this route. The PH tickets are just like the MYW tickets for WDW, you can have as many days as you want from 3-10. And note I said in my arrival that this is for 2009. I know as a PH for WDW that PH rates usually come out about 5 months ahead of time so the only problem with that would be in hoping there are discounts during my planned trip time.

If you don't mind could you post or PM me with the PH rates for Paradise Pier for early december this year when they come out? If it's like WDW the rates are usually about the same from year to year.

Thanks for your help!!!
