I've just found Fort Wilderness on www.disneyworld.co.uk, however using as a sample 2 adults / 2 children (9 & 7 years old) for one week 11th-18th November it comes out significantly more expensive than somewhere like Caribbean Beach or Pop Century - £1,268 vs £574 vs £392. Haven't done any fiddling to look at the prices, so might be worth looking into it a bit more, also note that this is over Thanksgiving so those prices are likely to be a bit higher than normal!

Hope that helps!

like to go in may 2009, for 14 nights and need flights, i could find it on the usa site and it was quoted per lodge rather than perperson. which seemed a good deal.doing it through disney world direct is more expensive, but cant find it through any other travel agent

I reckon you need to do a more careful search - just checking www.virginholidays.co.uk reveals "Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds".

Using May 1st for 14 nights, 2 adults, 2 kids (ages 9 & 7) the basic prices are as follows:

Pop Century (Value Resort): £3,000.60
Port Orleans or Coronado Springs (Moderate Resorts): £3,380.60
Animal Kingdom Lodge (Deluxe Resort): £5,039.30
Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds: £4,693.50

Doesn't seem that cheap to me, but if you go into a travel agent they may be able to find better deals. If Virgin do it, I'm pretty sure Thomson, First Choice and maybe even the likes of Travel City Direct will be able to offer it.

Courtman: I think he may be looking at taking 6 adults instead of the 2 adults, 2 children that you are researching.

Dazzer68: Fort Wilderness cabins technically sleep 6, although it would be really crowded, especially for 6 adults. You would likely save money over 2 hotel rooms though, and if you can live with being cramped and sharing one bathroom, go for it.

Someone correct me if I am wrong here.

For 6 adults, I think you'd be much better off getting 2 rooms at a value resort, or have you considered a villa off property?

Fort Wilderness cabins are great to stay in for longer stays, but indeed, 6 adults can feel very crowded in there (and I'm speaking from experience lol). It is great to have a kitchen and what not, but we still ate most of our meals in the parks, so we didn't use the kitchen much. Getting 2 adjoining rooms, at a value resort, or even a family suite at All Star Music may be an option.

Also, the transportation takes some time at Fort Wilderness. After 2 days of taking busses to the outposts, and then picking up another bus to the parks, we decided to rent a golf cart for the remaining 8 days, and it cost quite a bit, so that is just something else to consider.

While you can fit 6 adults in one of the cabins you better be very close friends because I am pretty sure that the person that designed the sleeping arrangements in the cabins got his start designing sleeping accommodations on submarines. If you would like a little more room I would look at 2 to 3 rooms at a value.
