WDW Executive Offices Question . . .

I've often wondered where people like Meg Crofton and Jim MacPhee have their offices located. Are they in the parks? Are they ever seen just walking around the parks??

The Team Disney Building is where most of the WDW big wigs work out of. It is located directly across from DtD, kind of beside Casting. The building looks like a cruise ship.

Thanks. I think I know which building you mean. If it were me . . . I want to work in one of the parks! Much more fun!!

Actually, the big executives like Meg and Al have offices in the animation building, behind Hollywood studios. they used to have offices in the sun trust building across from downtown disney. they have never been in the team disney building. and the individual park vice presidents are located in each park.

One morning, when we were in the MK, I saw a guy in regular street clothes sitting at one of the tables near the Hall of Presidents working on his laptop. Near the liberty bell. He also had a newspaper.

Dozens of people were walking by, stolling through Liberty Square.
Meanwhile he's busy working on his lap top.
I thought to myself, 'There's someone who really knows how to enjoy a day in the Magic Kingdom.'

Now, on second thought, he might have been a WDW executive who just wanted to work outside.

:)

Thanks for the info! I'll keep my eyes open for them the next time I'm at DHS!

Huh, I did not know that. I knew the parks VP worked in the actual parks, but I could've swore I read somewhere that Meg and Al had offices in Team Disney. Thanks for the correction.

Edit: From the post below I gather I was sort of right. I didn't know they moved Meg and Al to the old animation building, but they did at one time use Team Disney for those offices.

Actually, senior WDW executives used to have their offices in the SunTrust building until Team Disney Florida was built in the early/mid 90s, when they moved over there (Suntrust now houses HR and Corporate Compliance). Al and Lee Cockerell (at the time) both had offices on the top floor of Team Disney, north side. I remember that floor had their own set of security to make sure no riff raff would come bother them. Both Al and Lee had secretaries who said in the main area, but their offices were kind of hidden.

Then, once the Animation building was vacated by the animators, key executives and most of finance moved over to the Animation building at the Studios, with key executives residing on the top floor. This includes Al, Meg and Erin Wallace (SVP, Operations).

Each of the parks have their own Vice President, who report to Erin. Those executives are each located at the parks they oversee. At the Magic Kingdom, for example, Phil Holmes has his office just above the bakery on Main Street.

if i recall the offices are in the team disney building across from dtd. they might be seen out walking around the parks at times, but not as often as we like. also if i recall, executives over both parks have offices at wdw & dlr.

As I mentioned in my above post, they are no longer in the Team Disney building. They were until 06 when they moved to the Animation building. Most of the executives who are over both parks have offices in Burbank and in Florida.

In terms of executives in the parks, I've seen some park VPs out and about. I've NEVER seen Al Weiss just walking around in the parks. Back when Lee Cockerell was Executive VP of Operations, he could often be seen parking back behind Main Street (God bless the "Gold Football" parking sticker) and going for a stroll to see what was going on in the park. I remember once he had a near fit because he hated the MK tour guide outfits on some of the heavier set ladies. Hence why they were changed recently, when they got the budget to do so.
