Wasn't sure if this would fall under Dining Forum or not, so please move it if necessary.

I know the Lunch with an Imagineer has been discussed a few times, but I wanted to add my 2 cents for it. It was an extremely rewarding experience in every way. Our Imagineer was Cathy Carver, Principal Interior Designer here in Florida. She was so incredibly nice and informative! As someone who hopes to break into the field of Imagineering someday, she was extremely honest, said it takes a lot of luck and is very hard to come by, but she by no means discouraged me from trying. She said try your hardest, get good, and if it's meant to be, it'll happen. The lunch was very large so prepared if you chose to dine! 4 courses; soup, Cobb Salad, Choice of Entree, and Choice of Dessert.

The signed plates were an excellent cap to the time as well! Highly recommended!:sohappy:

I second that! We did it two years ago and had a graphic designer. His first name was Jason (can't remember his last name), and he'd just finished work on the refurb of IASW. I completely enjoyed the lunch, and he even stayed around and talked with us outside for a half hour after the lunch was over!

I thought they discontinued this?

I haven't heard anything in changes in frequency of this, but I haven't really asked around. Nobody at the Brown Derby or the Imagineer mentioned anything about it being discontinued. The one thing I will say though is that many people don't know about it. We asked at a couple dining stations (Reservation Centers near the tip board) in DHS early in the day about how long it lasts, and the CMs had never even heard of it. It's still there but I guess it depends on who you talk to and how much they know about the program.

My guess is that it would be Jason Surrell - I know he does those lunches. I actually did one two weeks ago today with Alex Caruthers, MK's art director, and it was absolutely incredible.

By the way...the statue of Mr. Toad in the HM pet cemetary? Thank Caruthers - it was all his idea!

AND I also found out that the new retro poster outside the CoP was a personal request from Marty Sklar!

Unfortunately my mind is drawing a blank and can't remember even though it was just this afternoon! A fellow family member took care of the bill, so I didn't get to see the pricing today. I'm sure someone else knows.

Also- Cathy informed us that her and Jason Surrell are close friends, and she is always amazed by his creativity.

I LOVE Lunch w/Imagineer. I've done it twice and both times were great!!

It's like $75 with tip per person.

Great tidbit! I thought it was great to see some retro love shown to CoP when I took a picture of it a few months back. To know it can be attributed to Marty Sklar makes it all the more better!

can you request...

Do certain engineers do this on certain days? My husband would love to meet another graphic designer and I wouldn't mind either...

Like previously stated, it's luck of the draw. We had no mention of our specific Imagineer until we met her at the restaurant at the beginning of the meal. I'm sure all are very friendly though, she personalized the plates she signed for us as well as took pictures with everyone afterwards.

No, luck of the draw
(I think it's whichever imagineer forgot their lunch money that day...)
Don't know if this is still the case, but when I did my Imagineer Lunch a few years back, the manager of Brown Derby told me they had access to the schedule a few weeks ahead of time and that it might be possible to find out who would be there on certain days (all of course subject to last minute change). So maybe you could get in touch with the BD prior to making your reservations... maybe via the switchboard number in my signature.

By the way... Alex Wright was our imagineer. Great guy. :)

Do you have any pictures of the event? Even a picture of the plate? I'd love to see it! (As well as do this some day!)
I'm glad to hear you had so much fun.
