If you have two vacations planned and you drive, why not just combine the trips into one longer vacation, so you only have to drive once?
It isn't just gas that is determining our plans. I have cut back and cut back. We own a pick-up truck. (just paid it off) The payments that I just finished paying on that is being eaten up with higher prices at the pumps and food prices. There are 5 in my family. *2 adults and 3 girls* I can go get a mini van that saves on gas but then I have another payment and again can't save the money. So we have to put off our trip another yr or so. We did get to go in July of 05. That was only a 3 day trip. I did enjoy it very much and looking forward to going again. So no gas prices are not the only thing stopping us from going. If you are letting the price of gas determine wheter you go or not you probably shouldn't be going in the first place. Gas is the least of my expenses and I am not rich by any means. The cost of a Disney vacation has got to average in the thousands of dollars I don't see where gas comes into play at that point.
Do you think that the current price of gas, and other items, will affect the bookings at the Value resorts more than it affects the Moderates or particularly the Deluxe ones?
Any evidence that WDW is seeing a lack of strong bookings?

But that's not the basis of the post. its a minimum of 3000 miles round trip. we are a four adult family. We need a Suburban just to make the trip comfortable.
aside from being an insult, the price of gas isnt going to affect much, expecially my disney trips. i would get a third job before i would let that happen.
thats fairly shortsighted coming from someone living in Florida.
where I live, last year had close to 100 inches of snow. There is more then one reason to have a suburban in my neck of the woods. ( we had snowfall that ranked in the top five winters ever, this past winter). Two family's from our church decided to move south just because of the snowfall. or since I tow a boat that was paid for 10 years ago, that's another reason to own my vehicle of choice. and my driveway REQUIRES 4WD in the winter.
$1.65
Well there's you're problem...If the four of you require a suburban to be comfortable you're never going to be able to afford the trip. With a driver and passenger up front, the other two of you would each have a full bench seat to yourselves (normally meant to carry three individuals).
America needs to reconsider how large of a car is necessary. You shouldn't need an entire bench seat for yourself. (Unless you are unnecessarily large) In a vehicle, you aren't meant to be able to lounge around across the entire bench, there are individual seat belts for a reason.
Bottom line....America needs to revisit the size of their vehicles, and the size of their meals
Well said!! We can't let the Arabs and other International sources of oil ruin our lives this way. We, as a people should be strong and persist no matter what.
As has been said, its high time we start doing some of our own drilling and stop relying on the nations that hate us. And in the mean time we need to develop alternative sources of energy so when the oil runs dry it won't be us hurting because of it.
I don't know where everyone is driving from, or whoever posted this message. But my logic is that if you can spend the money to go to WDW for a few days, then what is like the 75 bucks extra you are going to spend on gas when compared to the overall price. I mean sure, if you are driving from Idaho i understand, but if you are only in Georgia, Tennessee or wherever else that is relatively close, the high gas prices really only coist you MAYBE 100 bucks extra because of the difference. b/c if gas is 3 bucks, then 4 bucks later, you know, only a dollar difference. etc
anyway, you all probably know this, just ranting
