Pleasure Island - No Return Entry into Clubs

Does anyone know the rationale behind the "No Return Entry" rule that has recently been in effect (except for 8 Trax)?

It's kind of frustrating and not much fun to have to stand in line all over again every time you decide to enter a different club. It's not such a big deal early in the evening but as the midnight hour approaches the lines do get quite long. In fact, sometimes I just opt to call it a night and head on home early. Maybe the rationale involves some kind of a security measure but it certainly doesn't make much sense in terms of efficiency and good business practices.

:(

are you talking like as if you step outside to smoke or something? or as in leave the club, and come back a little later? i would imagine its to control crowds? or to prevent underage people from sneaking in? i feel thats typical at any bar or club. in DC, since we have a smoking ban, people are allowed to step outside to have a smoke, but thats usually in a roped off area right outside the door, and then they can come back in.

Wow... I haven't been to PI in a while... I had no idea this was going on. That's kinda stinky that you have to wait in line all over again after you've gotten your wristband.

Wow, I had never heard that before. Then again, besides a show at Comedy Warehouse, I spend the entire night at AC, so it probally won't effect me.

Never heard of this before now.

While it may be frustrating to have to wait in line every time you decide to go to a different club, this is common place almost everywhere you go. If you were go to a another area with a concentrated club/bar scene, you woule have to wait in line every time you hopped from one club to another.

Why is there even a line? The line should be for people getting id'd and having their passes checked. Are you saying they don't let you enter next to that line anymore? (except for the comedy club)

There is most likely a line because there are fire codes for the amount of people allowed in a building or area. My guess is this is why people would be held from going in after passes and id's have been checked.

The OP says 8 trax is the only club with a re-entry. That is also the only club I have EVER seen even come close to being at capacity.

I would disagree with you on that one.

Clarification

Let me add to what I already stated for clarification sake. For over the past 3 years I have been clubbing at PI on Friday and Saturday nights. Up until recently, after a cast member at the club entrance checks my ID and annual pass and applies the wrist band, all I had to do to re-enter or enter other clubs was to show the wrist band to the cast member standing next to the reentry sign and I was immediately allowed to enter - no waiting in line. Now, I'm only allowed do that at the 8 Trax club. If I want to enter any of the other dance clubs then I have to wait in line all over again. Go figure.

Look on the bright side. In the not-so-distant-future this will no longer be a problem at DTD. No clubs, no lines, no waiting. Of course there is always Citywalk.

Yes, I'm glad you mentioned City Walk. I am starting to frequent City Walk more often these days. Also, City Walk clubs DO ALLOW return entries after you initially get your ID checked and wrist band applied and then stamped - no waiting in line to re-enter the same club, but I think you do have to wait in line if you go to a different club because you need to get the wristband stamped with a different club logo.

So with that logic after I wait in line for Pirates I can go to the front of the line for the Jungle Cruise because they are in the same general area and I already waited for one.

I think what the OP is discribing is a completly different situation. The differance here is that in the past, the line wasn't for entry, it was to check poeple's Ids. So once you had the wrist band showing you were of age, there was no reason to stand in line again. Now, apperently you have to stand-in line behind people who are getting their tickets and Ids checked eventhough you already have the wrist band. Thus defeating the purpose of the wrist band which is to make it easier for people to come and go.

Personally I am in favor of Universal going after the young adult demographic as I believe that better fits the direction they are taking their parks. I also think Disney creates the world's best family entertainment and I highly favor the trend of removing the clubs from PI and adding more family friendly venues (T-Rex, DisneyQuest). I actually think if Disney does not renew with Cirque you will actually see Disney shows in that venue (LM, LK etc). Not saying Cirque is not family entertainment but again Disney entertainment is unparalleled. Finally, I used to favor closing DQ in favor of an ESPNZone but since ESPN is taking over WWoS I am really hoping that DQ stays open and ESPNZone is added to the new ESPN-land they have announced. Then everyone wins as Orlando theme parks will have something for everyone. :)

I am looking at it as a club or bar anywhere in the world. Do you really think that somebody bar hopping in New York City would be allowed into a bar without waiting just because they just left the one next door?

I understand that this is how it was, but as I see it the wrist band should only allow you the saved time of having your ID checked again or your park pass swiped. Another analogy is just because you have a hand stamp at Epcot does not mean you can skip the turnstiles at the Magic Kingdom. Wait in line like the rest of them.

dont worry, i hear they are installing fastpasses outside all the clubs...:lookaroun

actually my first trip to PI was in 2003, and i remember having to wait to get carded at every door. now this may have just been because i was young looking, but ive always felt that wristbands were stupid and could be easily given to an underage person, so i would imagine the constant id checking is because of that. how long are lines getting outside of the clubs anyway?
