Hello all.....

I was just reading a couple of threads here today, where articles were linked to of the author's just 'hating Disney', and all the criticism they were receiving for their attitude. Which made me curious, so I went to the websites of a couple state amusement parks, King's Island and Cedar Point.

Now, King's Island had a fairly decent one-day admission price, only about $30 for adults, 25 for kids. Cedar Point was higher for adults, $43, and less for kids, $16.
Now one day at a Disney park is substantially higher, $76 for adults and 64 for kids. However, when you go to Disney, it would be foolish to not visit all four parks, so I looked at a four day ticket, and it averaged out to $56/day for adults and $47 for kids. Plus there is a HUGE increase in the amount of entertainment and theming that Disney provides.
So, technically I would be spending less if I stayed in Ohio, but there isn't nearly as much to do. We're not coaster people.

My point? Disney comes out to a pretty average vacation destination. If saving pennies is important, stay off property. Pack food. There are ways to have fun at Disney and not mortgage your future to do it.
Clearly the authors of these articles showed there was some dislike of Disney before they even went. What a waste. :(

Jenny, I totally agree. I too read the article and felt that she didn't give the place a fair shake, and it appeared she only went to one of the parks. She might have liked something at one of the other ones better. But, as we know, Disney isn't for everyone. It's just a shame she didn't get it and then, it seems let the not getting it bleed out to her children.

When WHF and I were planning out our trip for this year, we considered a cruise, an all inclusive option, and various other things and yet, we kept coming back to Disney World b/c it ended up, economically being cheaper and we'd have more to do.

However, we decided on the Cali option instead b/c it was something different.

Jenny, I see your point. It is so sad that just because it is named "Disney" people automatically hate it. My friends at school are like "Ew, why would you go to WDW for Spring Break. That is so lame."

I am standing there like, "Have you ever went there? It is my favorite place in the world!"

They are just like, "It's stupid, Disney is for kids. I like big roller coaster parks better."

Apparently the three Mountains, Rock'in Roller Coaster, and Expedition Everest aren't big coasters, just kiddy rides.
