Unusual Pin Request

I'll be visiting WDW next month for a week. For whatever reason, whenever I visit WDW, I like to look nice. I usually wear khaki or navy blue shorts with a nice shirt. It's not a snobby thing, I just like it. One of the fun things about it is that I am ALWAYS mistaken for a cast member. At least once a day. I'm in the parks a couple times a year and I can usually help with rest room questions or directions.

I'm also an avid pin collector and I like to wear my Annual Passholder pins and some other limited editions. This leads young guests in the parks to think that I'm a cast member who will trade with them. Unfortunately, I don't have pins to trade; I only have pins that I really love.

I would like to take some spare "lanyard series" type pins that I could just give away to kids who ask me. Or even to kids who are behaving really well. I've looked at eBay but they want hundreds of dollars for most of their lots and I just can't afford to spend that much money just to give pins away. I have a few that I got at the Disney Store for a dollar each, but only 3 or 4 that I'd be willing to part with.

So. . . I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to part with a pin or two in order to allow me to play Santa Claus in the parks. I'm only going to be in WDW for a week, so I would only need a dozen or so pins total. I'm only looking for the least expensive pins, no limited edition or passholder pins. And I'm going to give them all away, I'm not looking to pad my collection.

If this is something that you'd be willing to help with, would you PM me? Thanks.

I think what you are trying to do is a great idea. Unfortunately my kids are too young for pin trading and DH and I don't do it, so I don't have any to offer you. What you might try is when you are at the parks, buy a "starter kit" of pins just for the purpose of trading with the kids. I saw one set of 8 or so for about $25 ( I think) when we were there in December. They're nothing great; but that's the idea.. kids will think it is cool to trade them. Good luck with whatever you do!

The Disney Store In Austin,TX at Lakeline Mall had pins and lanyards this past weekend. There wasn't a big variety, but the prices were cheap. Perhaps you might try your local Disney Store. Just an idea.

You could also pay a quick visit to the Disney Character Premiere store at the Orlando Premium Outlets. They always have a great selection of clearance pins often at more that 50% savings.

OMG I live a mile from that mall. I'm there almost everyday, heck I was just there today. Where in the store did you see them?

The DW and I were thinking about collecting pins but are in the same position as you, we don't want to trade! They should make a "I don't trade" lanyard.

madame_leota_19,

The pins were in the back/center of the Disney Store at Lakeline Mall. They had a collection of four princesses for about 10.00 and some others. They also had some blue lanyards with a design on them.

I suggest looking into Ebay again and go under the BUY NOW area and look for pin lots and you can find some lots of 10, 15, 25 and usually get them for around $2 per pin.

Good luck and have fun with it!

Here is a link to what I was reffering to: http://cgi.ebay.com/Disney-Hidden-M...ryZ38005QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

You can select how many pins you want and shipping is listed at $3.95 for 1-20 pins. So that will be about $2.08/pin for 20 pins. I have purchased a "Pin Lot" from this person before and their service was excellent. There are also others that sale pins this way as well as set numbers as I mentioned before.

jvrabel you don't have to trade pins. I have my pins I trade and others that I don't. Normally guests don't trade with other guests. Most of the time its guests trading with CMs. In that case you'd have to trade with a CM who has a blue lanyard (green are kids only) and you give them which of yours that you want. So you won't be forced to trade ones you don't want to trade.

2 days till I'm back in the World and trading again!!

I to have been collecting pins for a long time and really have few to trade. I collect mainly ride pins and go the extra mile for extinct ride pins, limited editions and hard to find. I usually only wear 1 or 2 at a time and notice some people starring with eager eyes but, have never had an offer to trade. I think I have 5 pin books filled? Keep collecting and maybe one day we'll run into each other.

Yup as a CM I can tell you that green lanyards are for kids to trade. I know many adults who have gotten upset because a friend with a green lanyard couldn't trade with them.
