Just got back from the world and boy am I upset!!!!! We got express checkout like always and when I read the statement hanging on the door there were two days worth of charges for internet use!!! WE had stayed four days and they snuck in charges on the first and third day like I wasn't gonna notice!!! this is probably a trick they are playing on people who don't look closely at there billing.when I stopped at the front desk to complain I said to the manager how do you like it when someone steals from you!!he quickly gave me a refund and said we gave you a credit and thats enough.I let him know I'm never coming back again if you don't think there was anything wrong with what they did. Any one else want to share an experience they have had with being charged for something they never used!!!!

I can understand your displeasure at being charged for something you didn't buy, but why must you assume it's a conscious effort on their part to steal from you.

Mistakes can happen, also. We've all made mistakes. Maybe you've made mistakes before, too. And when you have, did you like it when the involved party accused you of a crime?

Anything's possible ... I just don't understand accusing people of a felony as the very first way to react.

Yes, I've been incorrectly charged for all kinds of things over the years. I'm not naive, but I'm also not paranoid.

Mistakes do and will happen. that's life I'm afraid. If you are going to let 2 days of internet charges keep you from coming back then so be it. Disney isn't going to miss you.

Sorry, I can't agree with you here. We live in a world of computers and humans program those computers... Humans make mistakes and thus the computers make mistakes!

Things happen, sometimes it stinks when they happen to you, but to say it's a way a company is possibly stealing isn't right.

You got your money back, so who cares? Maybe the manager would have helped out more if you didn't make that comment to him.

Sorry to hear you're not going back, it's a fun place, but at least we all know that there will be a few less people in line with us now!

Mistakes happen and as long as the charge was removed then whats the beef?

Remember its not what you say, but how you say it. If you spoke to the manager in the same tone as you post implies (!!! and use of the word stealing) then I'm not surprised at all with his reply to you.

I guess you guys must have taken my thread the wrong way!! I am a passholder and will be going back just not to carribean beach..My choice of words came only after I had said can you explain to me how this happened and does it happen from time to time.then I got made when he said what he said.... BUT ANYWAY my purpose for this thread was to get responses from other people who may have had a bad experience. Which is what we all do on this site isn't it??? try to turn this into a heads up for future guests rather than a negative.

I always have normal hotel stays. Never had any charges gone awry or anything.

The last time I stayed on Property was at Pop Century. I was there for Celebration 25 and on THE DAY we get to EPCOT at 8:30am and are in Mousegear holding my commerative T-shirts while the Mousegear manager is getting the custodial manager for the Pop on the phone for me.

Seems I left my cell phone plugged into the charger by the bed. The manager went personally to the room and got my phone and held it at the front desk. I didn't have to leave EPCOT and go and get it right then. He told me it would be there at the end of the day. I was 5th row back in line to see the Rededication, stayed all day through the dessert party, the special Illuminations, and got to Pop Century front desk at 10:00pm and lo and behold my cell phone was in a bag at the front desk waiting for me!

:sohappy:

So you noted an error on your bill, notified hotel management, you were credited the eroneous amount? I believe we are missing a chunk of the story where it degraded to the accusation of theivery.

Seems pretty routine for handling an error. I would think most responsible adults would at least glance over their bill to ensure that everything is in order.

Its happened to me in my travels and the hotel has never questioned me, Disney or otherwise, when I have asked to have something removed.

If you feel that you were treated unfairly, perhaps you should contact Guest Services with the manager's name and explain the situation to them.

I know that there are actual scams out there that attempt to steal money from people by telling them they've won a trip but they have to send a deposit, etc. I know they prey on older folks who may not read the fine print or ask the right questions, etc.

I don't think I've ever felt as though I was being scammed at a hotel before though. I have always assumed it was an error and asked to have it fixed.

As a matter of fact, late last year I was staying at an off-property motel and my credit card was charged for one full extra night! This showed up in my account after I left. I called immediately, and although it took several phone calls to finally reach a manager, and I had to wait a few days to see if it would "automatically" come off my account (he felt maybe it was because the motel had put a hold on the funds) the manager finally refunded my money to me. Even with all of that, I never at any point accused the motel of doing it on purpose. I just assumed it was an error, and was thankful when it was resolved.

I've never experienced anything like this. Maybe it was a mistake. At least they corrected it with you.

I have has a few mishaps at Disney and they took care of all of them with no problems.

No, I think the general sense is that your situation was irregular but not unheard of.

I'm sorry, but I still have the disconnect from where a few mistakes on the bill turned into Disney trying to still money.

I have been charged for Valet Parking almost every time I stay or park at a resort even though i am a DVC member. All I do is call the front desk and they credit me.
No big deal.
It's all in how you approach the situation.!

I had a situation were at CSR I was doubled charged at one of the shops at the studios.. CSR took the double charge off and credited my breakfast for that day as well..

and by the way I work at a theme park as a manager and was accused of stealing and being a liar by a guest. All computers make mistakes as well as all humans I think you just got carried away and if you blow up like that for 20 dollars I hate to see what you would have done for my toatl I had over $300

Seems like Disney made it right. You are probably one of those high maintenance guest that employees talk about. You know the kind other guest roll their eyes at. As a business traveler, I always check my bill. If something is out of the ordinary, I talk with the front desk and they almost always make it right. Until I give them a chance to correct, I don't get too excited and lecture them on stealing from me. I am sure to be fair, if there is ever a charge that does not come through properly in your favor, or if you get something for free, you tell them about to make it right since I am sure you don't want to steal something from them....lesson, the author of this thread just needs to learn, that mistakes happen, point them out POLITELY, and usually they get resolved to the guests satisfaction. If not, then you politely ask for manager and discuss calmly and politely again. I find it hard to believe there is some secret Disney scam to random bill guest for internet usage to boost fees without guest realizing.

I've spent 10 years as an auditor, and 6 years as a regulator. And the saying I've learned that has helped me maintain an evenhanded attitude when dealing with companies is the following...

"Don't attribute to evil intent or venality that which can be explained by mere incompetence." :)

Glad you got your refund. Here is another tidbit you may not be aware of. Disney will start ripping off people during the busy season by increasing the meal prices. So be prepared when the meals are more
