Pop Warner and Mousefest Events in the Parks?

Are there any regular events/get togethers that Pop Warner organizes within the parks during their Dec. visit (12/7-13)?

If so, what day(s) and in what park(s)?

Also, are there major Mousefest events in the parks for the land events (12/11 - 12/15)?

We're already locked into that week because we rented DVC points 12/7-12/13 (and so fortunately are safe in regards to our resort!), but I'm also hoping to minimize other potential overlap with big gatherings (especially with those who may be screaming and heavily fragranced!).

I also just realized that we're going to overlap with our plans to fly in on 12/7... should I expect any complications in regards to our travels?

Thanks for any info!

Pop Warner is a mess. Last year they kicked out 3 teams from All Star Resorts for kids fighting. All over the news. They should be filming the Christmas Parade at the MK on that Friday and Saturday so the MK will be partially blocked off by city hall. Most of the Pop Warner events are at the sports complex so you may encounter then walking around the parks depending when they leave. You can check with guest relations to find out the exact filming dates of the parade. They want people to stand along the route down main street to wave while they film each float and band. Plus they will have a few musical acts performing in front of the Castle signing a christmas song.

The parade filming is probably the 6th and 7th this year.

The only MAJOR Mousefest event is at the Dolphin on Saturday, and that is the MegaMouseMeet, which drew about 750 people in 2007.

You can get an idea of past events by checking out this website:

I was there during MouseFest this year, but only participated in one organized event, the Hide & Seek on Tom Sawyer Island because I knew the organizer of that Meet. Otherwise, I just get together with people that I know and hang out in the parks.

Thanks for the specifics on Mousefest events and on the parade....

My biggest concern is around large gatherings of Pop Warner kids because I understand they can be pretty overwhelming to be around....

Do they not hold any gatherings in the parks then?

Thanks!

No, all of their scheduled events are at the Wide World of Sports complex.

When I have seen Pop Warner groups in the parks, its been groups of about 12-15 kids.

The Pop Warner people are nice people. There are just a lot of them.

We were there during Pop Warner week in 2005. The only time we saw large crowds of them was on Friday when most of the athletic events were over. Then everyone seemed to head to EPCOT or, at that time, MGM Studios.

The only time you'll really have "encounters" with the Pop Warner groups are if you're staying in a hotel that they are. Most of them stay in the Value resorts, but the overflow stay in Moderates. I've been at Riverside twice while Pop Warner was there. I only recall one incident, where a group of about 12 were hanging out around and swimming in the main pool around 11:30PM. Security came as I was walking past and told them that the pool was closed and that they should leave. One teen said that the front desk had told them the pool was open until 12, but the security guys wouldn't budge. That's all I heard as I walked past. (In the kid's defense, a day or two later I even noticed that the posted "Pool Rules" sign lists closing time as 12 Midnight...)

The only other thing was trying to get breakfast in the food court on the Pop Warner check-out day. INSANITY!

The only in-park scheduled event is an after-hours party at the Studios. In that instance, they try and usher the day-guests out of the park relatively quickly, and you'll be passing Pop Warner groups heading into the park. (And you'll know which day this happens, as the Studios will close an hour earlier on a random Wednesday or Thursday in early Dec)

Thanks MoM

No problem. There are also special WDW events from time to time at various parks, such as the Christmas & Halloween parties, Princess & Pirate parties, etc.

It's starting to get to the point that having a park open during "regular operating hours" is unusual.

I think that they clased DHS early one night this past Dec. for a Pop Warner night.

We were at ASMo during the end of Pop Warner this year and saw and heard nothing of the teams in the resort or in the parks until late Friday night when we met a group on the bus that was changing parks. There were about 15 cheerleaders and 4 sponsors. The girls were well-behaved and had a great time playing quietly with my 7yo son for the entire ride while I talked to a couple of the chaperones. A really great experience, especially after I heard about the 3 team fight at ASSp
