When will Epcot hours stop being listed this way?

I'm curious..

We all know that when Epcot's hours are listed as 9-7 and 11-9, that really means several Future World attractions are open 9-9.

Why do they continue to list it that way? It's really not true at this point, as the majority of Future World remains open until 9pm. I could understand it when only TT, HISTA, and SSE remained open until 9pm, but now Soarin, M:S, and Nemo all remain open as well as dining at Electric Umbrella and Fountain View and shopping at Mouse Gear.

It's not like it's a majority anymore - just LwtL, Figment, Circle of Life, and Energy are closed, with Seasons and ODV. Everything else is open. Everytime there's an EMH, even more stays open.

What's the point?

It continues to confuse people - how often do we hear someone saying "Oh, Test Track closes at 7pm.." which is not true.

Why not list 9-9 and then simply list the exclusions? There would be fewer exclusions then the current list of what stays open later.

I guess either way, you would have to list exceptions, so since they've been doing it this way for a long time, they just want to keep it that way, so maybe not to confuse the more frequent visitors.

But the frequent guests know what's going on - shouldn't they be more worried about the infrequent guests?

I agree entirely, but I'm not complaining. The more confused foridians there are, the less crowd flow there is on Test Track. :drevil:

I think it's probably fine the way Disney is currently listing the hours. Fanatics like us know exactly what is and isn't open, whereas occasional visitors get a "bonus" when they discover most FW attractions open later than 7:00pm. This also gives Disney the flexibility to not open an attraction or two if they so desire without having to adjust their posted hours.

The way future world is laid out, people tend to go right from the gates to world shwocase though, not seeing that FW is open.

Seen it happen numerous times recently. If any attraction benefited from "being found" it was SSE, and that's been closed for months.

No, I'm sure not too many people find this a problem, but it certainly is odd. There wouldn't seem to be much of a reason for Disney to keep listing the hours this way, so why not just list them for what they are? Not that this is really causing too much difficulty for most visitors, but a change would certainly make things easier to understand.

Maybe Disney benefits from pushing the crowds out of Future World because there's more money to be made in World Showcase?

It would be way less confusing just to have the whole park open till 9pm..:lookaroun

I don't understand why they don't leave all of the rides open until one closing time. What is the point of leaving some on and some off?

My guess is that they decide to list it that way to when people do a quick glance they realize that there are some attractions closing at 7 so they get them out of the way before they close. Otherwise if they look quickly and people see that FW is open till 9 they might put off things like Energy, HISTA, and LWTL off till later in the evening, and then Guest Relations would have to deal with all of the unhappy people. With the way it is listed they are probably just covering their behinds... market and give info to the least observant. And to those who pay attention they get the extra two hours for the big rides.
