I just tried to use the toll free Disney 800 Phone #(1-800-828-0228) and received an automated message that the # is inactive and to use 407-W-Disney instead. Amazing...I just called and used it for the first time the other day??

I never knew they had a toll free number! I guess I just always knew it as 407 W Disney and went with that!
They're slowly disappearing because naughty-phone-lines like to make numbers VERY similar to the Disney ones. The old Y.E.S. program number (1-800-YES-_ _ _ _ ) even became a naughty number after Disney stopped using it. It's easier to control using the local 407-934, 407-939, 407-938 and 321-939 numbers used by WDW for many reasons.

I've used 1-800-800-.... oh wait, this isn't a DVC thread? ;)

I'd never heard of 1-800 numbers to access "regular" WDW reservations... man, this would've been helpful in years past!!! I feel so... out of touch.... (sniff)....

The toll free number is a designated travel agent line, there are no toll free numbers for guests. Unfortuneatly someone was giving out the 800 number on this forum and it had to be reported. Disney Res agents work on an incentive program, and when you call the travel agent line you are literally taking money out of the agents pocket. The other line is for all other guests.
