With less than a year to go befor The Dark Knight hits theatres, I thought it might be cool to post any news and rumors for the next Bat-film here.

Yes I cant wait for the dark knight. I am a bit nervous because I am just not to sure about Heath Ledger as the joker. Did you see the teaser trailer yet? It wasnt very helpfull but it was still pretty cool. This is a funny little site http://ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com/ If you select edit then select all you get a message from the joker.

That's pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.

I'm really looking forward to this movie and hope it's every bit as good as Batman Begins.

I too am looking forward to this. However, I'm also very sceptical about Heath Ledger as the Joker. So far, I really don't like how its turning out. I didn't like the design that much ( cuts on the sides of his mouth that make it look like a smile? Eh... ) and the way his voice sounded in the trailer sounded like he was copying Jack Nicholson's performance a little too much. Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see. To me, Mark Hamil will always be the best portrayal of the Joker.

I completely agree that Mark Hamil's portrayal as Joker on the animated series was great, but I can't see him as being Joker, I just think his voice was great. I think Heath Ledger will do a fine job. He creeps the heck out of me in with that cut smile. I think it's great they're doing a more realistic take on the Joker as well. Not that I didn't like Jack Nicholson's version, but after a while, The Clown Prince of Crime gets a little old. I'd like to see more of a gangster Joker, and to me, it looks like this may be happening with Heath Ledger.

Agreed...

The original...Batman Begins is a realistic take on the Dark Knight. You didn't see a fancy, curvy, aesthetically pleasing Batmobile...we got an ugly, "tank-thing" that can actually do everything it does in the movie. It's real...it's not going to turn into a submarine, jetski, thinner "missile" like in the previous Batman films...it's strictly an armored vehicle that Batman gets around in.

Take Scarecrow for instance...did his mask actually turn into that "monster?" No...it only did that in the minds of his victims...just like Batman turned "monstrous" when Scarecrow got a taste of his own medicine.

The Joker should be done the same way...do I want to see him get splashed with some acid that turns his face into a permanent perfect smile? No...I'd rather see a scarred face that, with the right imagination...appear as if he's smiling. Jack's Joker face was too rubbery looking...it looked fake. I'm not taking anything away from his performance...it just made him look fake, and at times as if he was struggling to move his mouth due to the prosthetics on his skin.

You hit the nail on the head with that post. I'm also extremely thankful we don't have to see those horrid "nipple suits" anymore!:hurl:

The Joker should be done the same way

What keeps my spirits up about the joker is that Nolan said they are using the Joker from the graphic novel "the killing joke" as their framework for the character. Most people I know who like batman think this is the best Joker story done. I just hope Ledger can pull it off.

I am so excited for this film, especially after seeing how good 'Begins' was. I must say that I am sick and tired of all of these horrid, unrealistic Marvel comic movies that seem to come out every other month. Batman will always be the greatest superhero because he is the only one that doesn't have any implausible "super powers."

Heath Ledger is an excellent actor, and thus I have faith that his portrayal of the Joker won't disappoint. I'm also anxious to see how Maggie Gyllenhaal does in place of Katie Holmes.

The only thing I hope doesn't happen is the "Batpod" or Batcycle coming from within the Rumbler or Batmobile.

Then I'll be eating my words

Yeah...sure...a car can scale up the side of a building...Duh! :lookaroun

I don't get it... what's in December? The movie doesn't come out in December, does it?

Nope rumors are saying it will be more promo stuff, there has been a few sites with dark knight related stuff one was calling for people to meet a certain place dress as the joker then it turned into a rent a clown site. It also had police files and footage of the joker. At a comic booker shop joker cards were found giving out address's of websites so yeh they are going all out, would you like to to rent a clown. more promo stuff for the dark knight
http://www.rent-a-clown.com/

Also scarecrow will be back in this movie, he wont be as big as the last movie but scences of him sparying batman with the gas have been shot, also a scene was filmed of the joker riding a skateboard in a chase scene. As for pictures of the joker this was the only one i could find, it does look like the acid has left burns that look like a smile.

Ledger -- actually looks scary and sounds PSYCHO. I hated the idea. Hated him since the Knight movie. But he may be able to pull this off. This is -- JOKER in the "real world". And it looks like it might work. It doesn't looke to be super cartoony. It looks very Dark and Dangerous.

Oh really? I hadn't heard that...possibly. I had heard that there were fake ones around...but I didn't think this particular one was...but you may be right.

My bad if it is.

You are so right about Ledger...I was feeling the same way you were until I heard that clip of him in the trailer!

Yea they had a lot of fakes out there but I thought that pic was official too. If it was a fake I think we would have heard that by now. Bat man on film still has it as the 1st official shot of the joker. I dont think that was actual production make up but more "this is what our joker is going to look like". So everyone could get an idea of the direction they are going for. If im wrong, well it wouldnt be the first nor shall it be the last!:lookaroun

In defence for some of the Marvel movies, they do stay very true to the comics, and the times they haven't, I think it normally made the stories better. As for that Joker pic, I'd be willing to bet that's an official picture. It was the first released, and freaks the heck outta me! I LOVE it!
