Nine Dragons

I'm going to WDW soon and we are eating at Nine Drangons in China for the first time. I was just wondering, for those who have been there, what your experience has been? Is the food good? What is your favorite thing to have there? Thanks!

I went to Nine Dragons this past September and we weren't impressed. I ordered the General Tao's chicken and it was very bad (too tangy and sour). Another person in our party ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken and said it was no better than McNuggets. Our appetizers were horrible and the service was even worse. We paid $55 for the meal (because we weren't on the dining plan) and were very displeased. Again, this was our experience.

My daughters and I ate there this past June. We had the won ton soup for our appitizers, which was good. We had General Tso's, Sesame Chicken and Kung Pao Shrimp. (I had the shrimp and it was spicy, but soo yummy!) We were all very satisfied with our meals. Our server was very friendly and attentive, probably since we went right when the restaurant opened. The only thing we didn't like was the dessert. We were on the dining plan and the only options our waiter gave us was ginger ice cream or ginger cake. Neither one was very good. But over all, we love Nine Dragons!!!

I have eaten there in the past, but won't go back. While the food was good, it was the same as eating at any local chinese restaurant. I recommend trying one of the more unique places such as Marrakesh or Biergarten over Nine Dragons.

I've had primarily positive experiences there. I've eaten at 9 Dragons at least 5 times throughout the years. They have some great values for lunch specials. The food there has always been good. If you have a bad experience it would definitely be a coincidence, and not the norm. The menu there is pretty typical of what you would find at most upscale, Americanized Chinese restaurants. I would roughly compared it to PF Chang in terms of menu and atmosphere. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

I'm a big fan of Nine Dragons...I think it is one of the best Chinese Restaurants I've been to.

For me, I LOVE the Honey Seseame Chicken.

My cousin says the Sweet and Sour Pork there "should be its own food group."

My fiancee said the Hot and Sour Soup was the best shes EVER had...

We just enjoy it a lot. Hope you do too!

Cheers,
Josh

My family and I had eaten there last Christmas Eve as part of the Candlelight Processional Dining Package. It was one of the only ones available (which should maybe tell you something), and we were not too impressed. Was it BAD..No, but I certainly did not think it was worth what we paid. Atmosphere is good, service was Ok, food was so-so. I don't mean to discredit what other posters have said, but I certainly did not find it to be near as good as PF Changs. If you can change your ADR, I would make an attempt at doing so, simply because there are A LOT better restaurants at Epcot for that price scale. Good luck, and enjoy your trip.

I ate there last Dec. It was good but not somewhere I'd run right back to. The food wasn't any better than the chinese buffet here. One thing I liked was they put the sweet and sour sauce on the side for my kids. They don't really like it but my daughter tasted it. My son wouldn't but he was cranky from falling asleep on the bus back to Epcot. (wouldn't nap at the resort liked planned but that's another story) I also didn't like dessert. (on the dining plan as well) I'm not saying that you shouldn't try it if you like chinese. Everyone has different tastes. If it was one of the only places I could get into I would eat there again.

Ate there in September of 05. Thought while the food and service was good, it was no better than our local Chinese food restaurant. The theming inside is gorgeous. Maybe stop in and share an appetizer and dessert? I would rather use my money or dining credits at somewhere more unique though.

This will probably get moved to the restaurants and dining section but before it does...

We liked it. It has come a long way. It used to get really awful reviews. To be honest, it was good but we only went because it was one of two countries we hadn't eaten in. Like some others have said, you could probably find a really nice Chinese restaurant at home and not spend as much.

I guess we're part of the minority who wasn't real pleased with Nine Dragons. I'm a big fan of Chinese cuisine. I wasn't real impressed though. My wife and I went a couple years ago and we were one of the first guests to be seated. The portions weren't that great and service was okay. I'd prefer Lotus Blossom to Nine Dragons. But that's just me. Maybe if I went again I would have a different experience.

ive eaten there 3 or 4 times and I thought the food was very good although like others have said I guess it could be comparable to your local chinese restaurant but all my local chinese restaurants are takeout only so I wouldn't really know. I always get the honey sesame chicken

I've not eaten there. I think you can attribute what people are saying the the relative familiarity we all have in the U.S. mostly, with Chinese food. Its everywhere, and easy to get. We have good and bad, strange and familiar, and everyone has their favorites. The same can be said of Italian food.

I think your proximity to large immigrant cities shapes your favorites with these cuisines. Those who live near these places would be less satisfied since such good Chinese/Italian can be had back home. Those far away from big cities might notice a significant improvement. Its definitely a "Your mileage may vary" situation.

My family ate at Nine Dragons at the end of June, and we enjoyed it. We had lunch reservations for 1 PM, and we really didn't need them - there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. (Epcot also wasn't as crowded as it had been earlier in the week.) The service was relatively good. The restaurant started to get more crowded as we left because it started to rain. I had the Canton Pepper Beef, which was good; my parents both had the Honey Sesame Chicken and thought it was very good as well. We all had the Wonton Soup and agreed that it was good, and very similar to our local Chinese takeout place. (But how unique can you really make Wonton Soup?)

All in all, we had a pleasant experience and we'd go back again for lunch.

(This restaurant is supposed to be going down for a refurbishment next year, and an exhibition kitchen will be added. I'd go back to check that out.)

Thanks everyone! We have been to Disney about 13 times and have never tried 9 dragons. We have eaten everywhere else. I hope we have fun!

My family and I eat at nine dragons every trip. We like it! That being said, some poster are correct that it is not much different from other chinese restaurants. If you are looking for some place special to eat, I would suggets alternate restuarants.
