Only 2 weeks until we go - can't wait!!!!

According to my Unofficial Guide book it takes nearly an our to hop from AK to MK - is that realistic? And something like 40mins in the car (can't remember exact figure but there or there abouts) as we will be hopping over now I've re-organised my days to avoic EMH (we are staying in AKL so planning in going to AK day afta we arrive and then hop over to MK late afternoon and have character dinner at LTT for 6.30pm).

they say you should give yrself an hour to get to another resort. Once at DAK you can hope on a bus to the TTC. That will be the quickest way of getting to MK.

There's a bus that will take you directly to MK from AK I believe.

In any event, the time seems a bit long, but keep in mind that that would include waiting for your bus, going through security, going through the gates. I'd rather get ther early than late, so always figure the longer time. JMHO

As Disney always says: allow extra time for travel. The travel time from AK to MK is about 20 min., but of course there's waiting for the bus (up to 20 min. ) getting from the bus stop to the security check(up to 5 min.), getting through security (with bags, depending on the time , up to 15 min.), getting to LTT (depending on the crowds and Forecourt Stage shows, 15 min.).
If you get there early, you will usually be seated early. Allow at least 1 hour to get from park to park (entrance) (more for busy times).

I agree that it could take as little as 20 minutes to get from AK to the MK, but it usually takes longer...

If you're not pressed for time, why not try taking the bus from AK to Epcot (a shorter ride) and then take the monorail from Epcot to the MK??? I don't know about the rest of the world, but as I have to ride in a motor vehicle, either as driver or passenger, every single day of my life, I really enjoy the smooth comfort of the monorail....

my 2 cents...

The problem there would be that the monorail would only take them to the TTC, then they would have to change monorails or take the ferry over to the MK. This could be quite time consuming depending on how long the wait for either would be.

Nope it takes you to the TTC. We had to grab the monorail to the TTC to grab a bus for MGM...took a while but not too bad. Unless MGM is the only one but I dunno

Give yourself a LOT of time...better safe than sorry

Good point, but it depends on if they're pressed for time. As all of us know, sometimes you need a little sit down and relaxation time between all of that fun/walking!!! Besides, I like the monorail as much as most of the rides DW has to offer....so I don't mind the ride/time!! :)

Thanks for all the tips guys - never done the Epcot - MK Monorail before so may end up giving that a whirl - will depend when we decide to leave AK I suppose. Don't mind switching Monorails at the TTC if there is time for it, will be another of many "firsts" on this trip for us and the kids!

I was "planning" on leaving about 4pm or so for the meal at 6.30pm giving us an hour to get over and about 45mins to wander over to LTT and "check-in" so sounds like that will be about right.

Thanks again for all the advice - just want to go NOW!!!!

I just did this a week ago. The bus from AK, or any park, will drop you off at the TTC. From there you'll still have to catch a monorail or the ferry to get to the Magic Kingdom. I know it didn't take us an hour, but then we were lucky. The bus for the TTC pulled up right after we got in line.:sohappy: When traveling between the parks you should always allow a lot of time. You never how long you'll have to wait for a bus.
