Ruby Slippers from Wizard of Oz still at MGM?

I was watching a show on the biography channel about the different pairs of ruby slippers that were used in the production of The Wizard of Oz.
It was said that one of the pairs was on display in the que area of The Great Movie Ride.
I don't remember seeing them on our last trip.
Are they still there?

I was there last week and they are not there. There was a display of the narnia kids with the fur coats in the first display case. The second one I think had something narnia or something else, but that was the case that they were always in and weren't there. The third case still had the mary poppins carousel horse. I know that they move things in and out of those two cases from time to time.

The program may have been outdated.
I knew I did not remember seeing them last summer.
I sure wish they were there.
The only other place that has a pair on display is the Smithsonian & I am not going there any time soon.

If I remember correctly they were on loan from a private collector. Maybe it was time for them to go back.
I like how they change it out. It keeps the Que interesting.:)

There are actually several pair in existance, some owned by private collectors (the MGM ones were one of these), and some in museums. Several years ago, the Smithsonian did a traveling show which I volunteered at, and one pair of the slippers was part of that show. The Smithsonian actually borrowed a pair from a private collector to keep in the Washington museum while the traveling show was going on.

Cool!...I would love to see at least one pair in person!
I love The Wizard of Oz!

Nope. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom which was recently swapped out for a dress worn by Gwenyth Paltrow from Shakespeare In Love... UGH!

I tend to like the older props better.
Maybe when Gwenyth gets about 60, the dress will be more interesting.:o
