Wonder if Indiana Jones Stunt Show will get refurbed in time for the 4th movie?

Make since to me. I would love to be able to watch the stunt show immediately after seeing the 4th movie, which is due out next summer. My prediction is that Indy 4 will break all box office records set this year. It would make since for Disneys MGM Studios to update the show in time for the movie, much like Magic Kingdom did for Pirates of the Caribbean in time for the 3rd and 4th movies for that franchise.

They can't just do it, like they did with Pirates. And remember, they didn't do Pirates until after it was a hit.

The difference with Indy is that they'd have to work out a deal with Lucas and Spielburg to get it done. And if I know Lucas, he'd want a lot more than just a refurbishment, he'd want a top down upgrade of everything. Same as he wants for Star Tours. And we know that is still not done.

This definitely would make sense for them to do, but I don't see this movie breaking any box office records. The new Rocky movie didn't, and this franchise is similar in age (although it has more legs and will be released in the summer). It's just not as bankable as the big three that have come out/are coming out this May.

Totally different types of movies, though.

INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
Domestic Total Gross: $197,171,806
INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM
Domestic Total Gross: $179,870,271
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK
Domestic Total Gross: $209,562,121

ROCKY
Domestic Total Gross: $117,235,147
ROCKY II
Domestic Total Gross: $85,182,160
ROCKY III
Domestic Total Gross: $124,146,897
ROCKY IV
Domestic Total Gross: $127,873,716
ROCKY V
Domestic Total Gross: $40,946,358
ROCKY BALBOA
Domestic Total Gross: $70,269,899

(Numbers are US Domestic gross)

I agree that it won't break the box office records. But comparing it to Rocky isn't right because it was always more popular than Rocky. Indy 4 will be comparable in gross to Pirates 3.
(Transformers will be the record holder for both opening weekend and all time gross)

Don't get me wrong I love "Indy" both the movies and the stunt show. But lets talk reality. The stunt show is on life support and it needs to be shutdown. If you ask any kid below the age of 15 they don't know anything about "Indy". The last movie came out in 84'.There is no chance of the movie breaking any records. Harrison Ford is old enough to collect Social Security.

There is no way Indy 4 comes close to Pirates 3. Pirates 3 will gross well over 1 billion dollars worldwide when it is finished it run. Indy would be lucky to do a third of that. Transformers will not set the weekend record because it' being released on a Wednesday and too many people will be going Wednesday and Thursday. It may have a chance to break the 10 day record if it gets repeat business.

4th 5th 6th 7th 8th, basically for as long as they can drag them out.

However I read that they want to take a break between 3 and 4 if they do happen, as posted above 2009/2010, so people dont feel Pirate overload.

However the nature of the franchise alows them to keep running for as long as we keep buying it up.

I do agree with you 100% that if you asked any youngster what Indiana Jones is, they would probably look at you with confusion. The 3rd movie came out in the early 90's, the same year when many of todays kids were born. I do think however that the 4th film will bring in a new wave of Indy fans that will bring back the franchise as a def money maker, and heres why. We discussed this in a film class I am taking this quarter at my college. Todays top of the box office movies are becoming more and more action packed that tend to be a trilogy or series of films. Look at Spider Man, Shreik, Harry Potter, Pirates...heck,even throw in Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

We can debate all day and all night about the quality of these movies, in other words, how good they are. For instance, pirates 2 disappointed alot of fans who thought it wasnt as good as the second film. However it grossed over 200 million dollars and has made even more money off murchandise and sales in clothing and toys. The same can and will be done with Indy 4. It will get somuch hype that you will hear nothing but Harrison Ford cracking a whip. Yes, he will get the late night talk show hust jokes about him and his age, but that it expected.

Lucas, Spielberg and Ford would not have agreed to this if the picture wasnt to there liking, and according to Spielberg, it is the best yet that will be very, very worth the wait... Heres the article...

If Disneys smart, which they usually are, I say they will capitalize on the success of this film with a quick refurb to the stunt show. I do think they need to bring in the indy ride from disneyland and put inplace of the stunt show.

did I miss something or has there been a 4th pirates released that no one else knows about???

I am sorry, I should have put 2nd and 3rd, instead of 3rd and 4th...my mistake:wave:

And yes it is a rumor there will be a pirates 4th, although unofficial, i cant see disney not pursuing this franchise any longer, they have made far too much money to just let Cap'n Jack sail into the sunset just yet.

any one else think the indy show is lame....

and i love the movies, the show is just lame. id watch it if dj was in the audience screaming at steve, but until then im done with it

I like your thinking! I hope thats how it goes, I love the Transformers.

I would love to see them do something new with indiana jones for the new movie. The movie will do well I also think it wont break records, but it will make a lot of cash. I would love to see the DL ride in place of the stunt show. The stunt show has grown a bit old for me.

I agree the ride would have better legs to stand on. Stunt shows get very old very fast. They haven't really changed the script in many many years.

I have to disagree. There has been a buzz about this movie in the Sci-fi community for years. If Sean Connery signs on I have little doubt that it wont surpass the 3 previous films.

I think it will also do a lot better than the first 3 but thats not going to mean records falling, IMHO anyway. I love Indiana Jones and wouldnt mind it breaking records I just dont think it will. I just hope we see something new at the parks because of it.

Yes, but instead of Dinosaurs you get snakes and temples and stuff!

Instead of a Clone (two rides with the same layout and vehicles? DUMB...) why not just create an original IJ Adventure? Heck they did it with ToT at TDS (albeit that park isn't 100% Disney owned).
