Isn't that sheet glass wall just to the left of the tree and home of Guest Relations now? It does have a large sheet glass wall with 2 double sliding doors.
If memory serves, yes. However the Communicore entrance was where the tree is now; the wall with a curve directly left of the tree used to have the Communicore East letters and logo on it... typically I have a picture, though it`s obviously `shopped since I panned and zoomed the video it`s grabbed from. Guest Relations now sits where SMRT-1 and Computa Coaster used to be. I wonder if they saved money and just swapped the doors to the other side of the curved wall

I'm going to keep this going in an OT direction, I apologize... I was only 3 at the time, forgive the fuzzy memories, but weren't there WorldKey kiosks next to the now-present Guest Relations entrance? You can still see them today. How did that work with the entrance to CommuniCore? And what is now the entrance to Innoventions - was that always a doorway, or did it used to be a wall?
I was so pleased to find an old photo that shows the functional kiosks on the bridge between FW and WS - now it's just a strange architectural being with no purpose.

Yep - when Earthstation closed some WorldKeys were moved to the wall next to the current GR doors. Can you remember what do they look like today? I have an awful lot of geeky pics to take in October.... walls, windows, curtains.... oh, scrap curtains. It`ll be shut.
What is now the Innoventions Entrance, to the right of the old Communicore entrance mentioned above (to the left of todays Electric Umbrella) used to be a curved glass wall, with a ramp inside of it curving down from Travelport into the outer seating area of Stargate.
What is now the GR entrance area used to be just a glazed wall, with Computer Central inside - at ground level. Once you passed SMRT-1 the rest of Central was at a slightly lower level. That`s one thing I miss from CCore; the varying floor levels. Not too much to make moving around difficult, but enough to make it interesting and define different areas.

Marni, right behind the wall behind the counter in Guest Relations (as it currently is) there's a ramp thing that leads down toward the Energy side - I always assumed it went into the tunnel.
How does that work out with Communicore setup? Was it originally just stairs to get up or down or am I misremembering the shape of what is behind the wall at Guest Relations?

Thanks Martin! That helps a lot to put everything in perspective. I do remember what they look like now - but I'm actually heading down to WDW this weekend so I can do one better and take a photo to post here.
I'll try to explain it now as best I can - It's a curved wall that runs parallel to GR's outer wall, with a narrow walkway in between. There are something like 6-8 little "stalls" where the WorldKey screens would have gone. There's a slight overhang roof to protect from the elements.
But like I said, I'll take some pics and post them here when I return on Sunday. Anything else I should look for while I'm there?
Yup, the WorldKey thingy is still there, blocked by potted plants - and did you know that's not attached to the building? There's a little gate between the two buildings that leads to the backstage area under the monorail track and pops out by Energy's post show.

Thanks; look forward to them. If you can get a few wide ones from outside, and one of the (non) terminals that`d be great. And since you`re in the area how about one of the wall behind that tree (!) and one of the Innoventions doors to its right? Imagine the looks I`ll get in October taking 100's of pictures like these.... one mission is to document the changes from CCore to Innoventions. GEEKY!
merf, from what I can figure the ramp down in todays GR is a 1994 ramp from the SMRT-1 upper level to the Comp' Central sunken level. I do have some video of GR from 2001... but it`s 1am now and I`m not digging it out tonight :lol:
If you caried on into the building behind the GR desk and that ramp, just a few more feet and you`d get to where the start of the Astuter Computer Revue / Backstage Magic ramp was. And yes, the WorldKey wall was a `94 addition as well. How far WK fell - from pride of place in Earthstation to being hidden on the wrong side of a wall. If you were to go through that gate, and see some doors open on the right at the top of a slope, that`s the real Computer Central. Not that I`d condone doing it of course.
That back corner of the building, top of the slope, has a little overhang that Electric Umbrella CM's hangout at and eat lunch at a little picnic table and the rest of the area is a concrete slab that they park cherry-pickeys on.
Behind the picnic table is a door that, as far as i could tell, lead to a stairwell. Sort of like the garbage collection things in the breezeways. Behind the slab though, I think were the massive doors. Not like real "door" doors, but rather big giant theatrical style loading dock doors, like they'd fold or turn accordian style rather then really open.

Im actually very excited about Project:Tomorrow. Well to be honest they could be putting up Project: Pooper Scooper, anything would be better than the tall dark construction wall-o-palooza they've got going on right now.
FutureWorld needs something new and exciting, and I think Siemens is doing a great job so far, as long as they avoid the hard sell.:drevil:

Did you know the area near the exit of Impressions des France, the seating area for the bakery, has it's own kind of trash can?
Also, light-blue trash cans in the back area of Innoventions Southwest (behind Club Cool) which are unique.

I can do that - I have the trash cans from every resort, mini golf, theme park, TTC, Casting Center... I started it as a joke last summer and it got a little out of hand!

Sounds like the "photo essay" I started of the lampposts of World Showcase, just to see if my friends truly thought i'd gone off the deep end... :animwink:
Each country has its own unique design lamppost, and you can tell where each pavilion officially ends by the change in the designs. There's also one design that I call "World Showcase Default" that recurs throughout in the "blank" sections of WS.
As for the video of the screens in the SSE post-show, one MST3K quote comes to mind: "Man! The universe is really cruisin'!"
