titile says it all, do you think walt's vision of epcot would be possible to make today in disneyworld? should it be made? or should it not? and if you had a place to put it, where would the REAL epcot go? also, what could it possibly be called now being that "epcot" is already used for the park

Chill out guys...Anyone notice that it was the original posters 11th post, meaning there new here. Odds are the first poster hasnt seen any threads related to the topic he/she posted. Oh, and if you dont have a comment to say related to the thread, why comment?

Now, back to the thread.

IMO Walts vision of Epcot would have been completed because he ALWAYS came through on his ideas. He truly wanted to create the city of tomorrow, and I believe had he been alive Epcot as we know it today would be very very different.

A variation of Epcot has been done in most major cities in the US and they are called:

corporate parks

or

industrial parks

Where various companies set up offices and corporate centers close to suburbia so you could come and go to work easily and they seem to be close to shopping districts as well. Not that, that was Walts dream but a variation no less. Places such as Walts' Epcot needs to be able to compete in the global market place, be able to be self sustaining and also economiclly feesible. It would also have to be located in area where it would have some sort of stratigic value for the people moving into this city. We live in a very different world than what was invisioned 50 years ago.

A place where people can live, work, and play. I don't know. Don't take this the wrong way but it seems sort of cultish. I think they somewhat tried with Celebration but they half-A--ed it and it failed. My opinion only. I guess I am saying I am not sure.

Here is another Epcot vision gone bad...

http://www.miamitodaynews.com/news/050901/story3.shtml

The townhouses walls are too close together without enough insulation deeming them not fire safe. How do I know? I used to live there did not know Disney was involved until we sold the house. Thsi community has a giant park with excersice and swiming facilities and a big shopping center with publix and resturants library etc.

In other words...

Like I said...
Just another What would Walt have done thread!!!

Not much difference, but instead of What would Walt do? We know what he wanted to do. I think it is more of a "Would it have worked?" I think the original poster is just asking for opinions from you, not what you thought Walt would do.

E.P.C.O.T was a very novel idea that I think should have been acted upon back then. But if it was done today... it may have a hard time fitting into society and the global economy, that someone previously mentioned.

So, unless Walt had another vision for the place that would fit today, I'd say no.
