I know there a few threads about the new SSE rehab...but I thought this deserved it's own thread since not in essence about the SSE Rehab...

It got me thinking...I heard nothing about this except for the post show which was obvious since they have been working on it. But it seems in years past lurkers would keep a grip on all up comming happenings. Even the 3 cab overlay in mexico...we did not hear much on the details of the newly refurb attraction.

between this site and the others that I read I knew pretty much everything that we got in the refurb. We didn't know exactly what the videos looked like but we knew pretty much all the details before hand.

We've all be hearing about the SSE refurb happening and details have slowly started to leak out and then they gave us a ton of cool stuff with the press release yesterday. It's still a long way before the refurb takes place. We'll hear more over time.

Also this is a little rehab, which of course is a lot easier to keep a hold of. For somthing like this none of the hourly CMs know what's going on, nor do they have access. For larger things, like everst & laugh floor for example, even when they try to keep things under wraps they have CMs around, guest previews, a lot more time, generly less interest, and a lot larger area to cover. So really I think the fact that it was a little quieter then some is just cause it's small.

Theres a big difference in refurbishing something that is already existing and creating something new. Look at Toy Story Mania, we knew about that well in advance. The nature of the refurbs help keep them more secret.

I've known for awhile that a SSE rehab was coming, but not so soon and quite of this scope. Siemens forked out a good deal of money...

The problem is we're less likely to share anything in print because the company is getting VERY strict about what information we share. It used to be they wanted us to divulge things left and right to create anticipation. Now they really want us to stay tight lipped... being termed over giving out information to the public is not the way I want to leave the company... you know?

A few  knew about the ride rehab with a lot of the details mentioned, but we kept waiting for more info.... then the press release emerged from nowhere.

I find it more amazing that until the pics `merf posted virtually nothing was known about Project Tomorrow. Maybe it`s not just in scope and budget that Siemens are rewriting the book.

nope

Disney is not better at keeping secrets. its just that people keep dismiising some things that turn out to be true.

I think disney is actually getting worse at keeping secrets.

Plus their are some ways to get ideas on what disney is doing in the future. Its very hard to keep secrets now. Especially when counties and states post a lot of applications and stuff that have to be reviewed online.

Its interesting how some times they don't even try that hard, other times things are top security. I remeber being in EPCOT and seeing a display and information about Test Track before it was open and ready. There probably was a reason, but I have no idea why they would give away so much information about a new ride. What was that about?

There are those of us who knew about this, like Marni mentioned above... I'm pretty sure that there will always be at least three or four on this forum that aren't suprised by news that comes from the Mouse House...

I found out the brief form of these details over 4 months ago... The Siemens deal, six months before it was announced and the Three Caballeros overlay was described to me by an imagineer over a year ago... Details don't stay quiet forever... :D

I think the best kept secret was the two new cruise ships. People had been talking about it possibly happening at some point but I was completely shocked when I found out. It caught me completely by suprise. I think this is a good thing. Its alot more exciting finding out about something unexpected instead of knowing about it in advance, but that is just my opinion.

I think that they almost have to be better at it.

In an age where anything released to any one person can wind up all over the internet in hours, you have to be careful who gets their hands on the important/top secret stuff. At the same time, people (on this board) are very good at getting their hands on that stuff.

So, just as WDC's secret keeping tactics are getting better the secret finding tactics are also getting bettter.
