I was just reading about this in our local newspaper. The article states that the museum has been loaned more than 500 items from the Disney Archives! For anyone who might be in the Montreal area before June 24th, it sounds like it would be worth checking out.

Here's the link to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts page.

I actually visited this last Tuesday. They had some amazing pieces; cells, backgrounds, sketches by mary blair, etc. I think it was $15 (canadian) for admission but well worth the price. I would have to say though, go on a Saturday if you can. We went on a school day and had to try and go through the exhibit with school kids running around on a trip. No cameras allowed though :(

I forgot to mention they had a whole contemporary art room for Disney that included an andy warhol piece as well as some "interesting" art pieces that included a head made of matchsticks with a stuffed mickey in it's mouth to a mickey crucified. That room creeped me out a bit
The gift shop that came along with it had some really great Disney books, a lot written by imagineers. Apparently this is the only stop the exhibit is making in North America.

I actually plan to take my Mom to this on Mother's Day... It's a pretty cool exhibit.

(And, FYI, the show is on for a very long time - well into the festival season in Montreal if any of you want to come and enjoy the free outdoor concerts!)

[/tourism pitch] :)

Neither do it... if I cross over land ;)

You may not need a passport...yet, but you do need your birth certificate. We were turned away at the Champlain Crossing today and told we need to have our birth certificates to prove we were born in the US.

BTW we too plan to go to the museum for the exibit.

I just read about this too. It's cool I plan to go although, it will be a bit easier for me then for some of my neighbors to the south as I live in Ontario and it's a 30 min flight for me!!

Apparently it's on loan from the Museum in Paris and Montreal is the only North American appearance! For the English only speaking Southerners, Montreal is the biggest area in Quebec where you can get by without knowing any French most people are Bilingual, unlike in much of the rest of the Province!!
