I know i have up until 45 days before trip to pay off balance. But can i add or upgrade after that or when I get there?I understand there are charges for changes or cancellations after the 45 day deadline,But if i decided to add the dining plan when i get there would they charge a fee for that or is it a fee if you decide to downgrade after the 45 days?just wondering ,I hate to commit myself to an extra 700.00 for the dining plan now, because i am not quite sure i can swing it.But i am thinking that if I can somehow manage to continue to put money away after the 45 day deadline ,i could possibly add the dining plan right before or after i get there at check inn. I hope this makes sense,i am writing as i am thinking.:veryconfu

I added the dining plan after my 45 day mark without any problems at all. I had been told it was no problem, it had to be added at least 3 days prior, but the lady suggested to do it no later than 5 days before.

As another poster said, you can add the Dining plan up until a few days before your arrival.

The rule of thumb with making changes after that 45-day mark is that the $50 change fee is waived by Disney if the new package price is higher than the old one. So if you're adding the Dining Plan, upgrading your room to a better view, or upgrading to a more expensive resort, all of those can happen (subject to availability) without a change fee.

If your new package is cheaper than the old one, though, you'll have to pay the $50.

Just to confirm and clarify...

Yes, you can upgrade your package, Resort, room choice and party anytime up until 3 days prior to arrival. Only limited changes can be made within 2 days of of arrival. The Disney Dining Plan cannot be added at all within 2 days of arrival, nor can it be added once you arrive. Any changes made within 45 days of arrival will require full payment at the time of the change.

A $50 Change Fee will apply for any changes 44 days or less prior to arrival only if the change results in a lower package price. If the package price remains unchanged or increases then the fee is waived.

A $10 Special Handling Fee will be automatically applied for any changes within 13 days of arrival. The Special Handling Fee covers our costs to re-process and mail documents to your Resort and/or you.

As Disney's Magical Express is a free service for Guests staying at Disney owned and operated Resorts, no change fees will be applied to add or modify this service option.

If you have airfare, vacation insurance, or other third party components, change fees may be applied by these suppliers anytime after the deposit is paid if these components are affected by the change.

If you're thinking that you're going to add the dining plan I would make sure and make your ADR's now, you can always cancel them if you can't swing the plan when it gets closer. However, it could be very hard to get a lot of them if you can swing it and didn't make them.

A little off subject, but still on the subject of fees for changes; what if, God forbid, something came up between now and my arrival date (April 23) and I had to cancel the vacation altogether. Would it still be a $50 fee, or would it be a greater fee since I'm totally cancelling and not just downgrading?

I *think* that 45 days out, no penalty, 44-6 days out it's $100 and 5 or less it's $200 unless you have trip insurance.

OMG, I just realized when I was typing this that I'm at the 5 day mark!!
