Have adjustments been made to Splash Mountain?

I was at the Kingdom last night and everyone was getting absolutely SOAKED on Splash Mountain. I have ridden this attraction more times than I can count and I have never been drenched as much as I was last night. Everyone was walking out funny because they were so wet.

Anyone know if changes were made? Perhaps it's just a coincidence

They adjust Splash depending on the weather. If it's colder, they reduce the amount of drenching, but never entirely eliminate it. They also drop the spray that gets observers on the bridge if it's too cold.

Contrary to "common knowledge" the "splashes" on Splash Mountain are overwhelmingly NOT caused by the logs hitting the water in the troughs (a very few small ones are.)

The heavy drenching water effects (including the BIG one at the bottom of the final drop) are actually "sprayed" and/or "launched" at guests by adjustable water pumps and/or water cannons.

As was said, these can be reduced or even temporarily eliminated at will by the CM's who control the ride.

I learn something new here everyday ....:)

it's actually a very smart ride system. By having the big drop go into a relatively confined tunnel, they can control how much water they spray at you and the average guest won't know any difference. This practice of spraying water at guests has been adopted by other parks over the years. The local amusement park up here, Lake Compounce, sprays water at you on their log ride, though there is no tunnel so you are well aware that you were just sprayed in the face :)
