So, Can My Kids Get Fries or Not?

I can't seem to get an answer to this question. Some say it is applesauce and carrots only. Others say that you can now sub fries.

Doe sanyone know for sure? This is a big deal for us. My kids HATE applesauce.

We were there in mid January. Kids could get fries.

We, as adults, always subbed the fries for grapes, which was very nice that they allowed us that.

Remember grapes are an option too, and boy were they good.

My kids will eat grapes, but I am sure that most times the irresistible call of the deep fried potato will be too strong. :ROFLOL:

Thanks for the info.

Yes you can sub for fries. Our kids opted for the grapes many times and then shared our fries. They give you so much food its easy to share. Plus the grapes come in little containers so they are easy to take with you and let the kids eat them later on as a snack. We did this several times, just got a little bag and put the containers in the bag and put the bag in the back of the stroller. Then if we had a long wait or the kids were hungry they had the grapes to snack on.

I should think that fries would be an option. It is so very thoughtful that the government is trying to protect us from ourselves , however when on vacation sometimes people dont want to be healthy. I think people need to worry more about what they eat at home rather than on a 1 week vacation at a theme park. However I will say that It is great that they do have the option of grapes or veggies because after so many days you have fry overload and it is nice to have different options.

Not all places will sub for fries im sorry to say that, but its true.

According to the Disney mailing I received today juice and veggies are standard with kid's meals, but fries and soda are available to substitute for no additional charge. I didn't see any qualifications on that.

Disney is not the government. This was their decision not a government mandated one.

I also got a mailer that stated that fries could be subed at no additional charge. My son would be so disappointed if he wasn't able to get fries. On vacation, and especially at WDW, we throw caution to the wind and he gets spoiled. We aren't as strict on vacation as we are at home. He can eat what he likes at WDW.

I am well aware that Disney is not the governement, but since the government is putting mandates on fried food/trans fats all over the place, just figured Disney was joining in before they have to. I guess my point was to eat what you want on vacation, but be good at home. I dont necessarily want a burger and grapes for lunch but good to know I can have grapes if I want them, but not forced to have them.

Number one, the federal government isn't restricting trans fats, merely requiring that their presence and amount be reported to consumers.

Number two, during my 2 trips to WDW over the past 20 months, I did not see a single green grape served. And the only places we were unable to substitute for fries were places that did not serve fries.

They are not an option at Flatbread Grill in MGM. My 9 yr old was only allowed to choose between applesauce, grapes, and carrots. We left and went elsewhere.
