I'll be the first to admit I saw it during my last trip...but in my defense, I was unlucky enough to visit WDW during TS Alberto and it was absolutely pouring that day...it was an escape from the rain and you are always able to assume it'll be walk-on lol...as someone who has visited WDW many a time, I find myself more like to say "screw it" if I see anything with a wait time over 40 minutes or so, and if something is walk-on, I say "why not?" I rode the Great Movie Ride three times during my last week-long vacation for that very reason! There are only a handful of rides I will go out of my way to ride many times, like the Tower of Terror. I'll get a Fastpass every day for that!Without reading the whole thread, I will offer this observation. Lately, I've been treating "Sounds Dangerous" as I treat Beverly at Club Cool. It's so freaking bad you have to experience it at least once just for the camp value. After that, it's pointless -- just see how many people you can trick into going to see (errr, hear) it.
I remember seeing that in March 1998! GOSH! That was almost 10 years ago! Time flies!
you know, there was talk a few years back of potentially expanding the park across the street and what a pain that would be. But honestly, the much smarter plan would be to build a new parking lot across the street allowing for a quick tram ride across the street which would be much simpler than trying to expand a park across a road. Then they'd have the entire parking lot open for expansion--of course they need to fix the current park, now, but there is always that possibility 10, 20 years down the line.
I'm not sure, probably it would be something to do about the view of a 5 story parking lot. Would kind of ruin the scenery of the park.I have a question...why not build parking garages? They take up much less room!
Universal does it...
If you build a 5 story parking facility...doesn't that (in theory) take up 1/5th the land?
I don't know if anyone else mentioned this, and I know that it won't ever happen, but I'm just dreaming. If they were to replace Sounds Dangerous with another attraction, wouldn't it be great if they were to recreate Alien Encounter and put it in that building. I know that it will never get done, but it's obvious that everyone wants it back, and it's obvious that disney made a mistake changing it to Stitch's Great Escape. Why not admit that you made a mistake, and that you're going to give the people what they want? It's possible to have two attractions that are similar in theme(Body Wars and Star Tours existed for years together).
ah...well, either way, the fact remains that they could build a new parking lot across the street and easily have the trams transport guests over. But, it would require a lot of changes in the park (e.g. extension of Hollywood Blvd.). I was just pointing out that MGM's space issues aren't as bad as people like to say. They have options in the decades to come. This is not Disneyland (and even Disneyland now has options).I have a question...why not build parking garages? They take up much less room!

well that space for the 5th park would have space for a parking lot anyway. Just combine MGM and the 5th park's parking...or build a two-story parking garage. As you said, though, this is completely speculative. I was just meaning to dispel the common idea people have that MGM has no room to expand. They have plenty of options. It was just a poorly planned park from the start, with a very confusing organization and they boxed themselves in so that they would have to do some major demolition to expand.Agreed, just like the Magic Kingdom. Although, knowing Disney and the way they worry about things, that would present the problem of coming up to the park from the back.
I guess if they're going to destroy the Chinese Theater-based enterance they could just retool the whole park and change the gate location. That actually wouldn't be a bad idea, anyway, if they were to expand into the existening parking lot. You'd be building onto the existing gate already.
Or you could just take the tram rid and not worry about it, which seems like the best solution, but that's not very Disney.
The one question is if that area is indeed reserved for a future park (even be it distant future) is that you probably kill that by putting in a parking lot. That may actually not matter, as they may (when that time comes) decide there are other viable areas, that expanding Disney Studios is more important, and certainly more immediate, etc. Although, they may also decide that a new park would serve their interestes better down the road than expanding MGM.
There's reasonable speculation on both sides of a very speculative idea in the first place.
well...that could be interesting...:lookarounI vote for "Smells Dangerous."
*crosses fingers* here's hoping!

I just think MGM needs more rides...no more shows, please!I think a fun show would be a Whose Line is it Anyway style show to replace Sounds Dangerous. The transition should be easy enough, and as long as you have the talent it would be a nice B or C ticket.
