I'm confused (doesn't take much I know)...were the amount of the gifts = $200?. It sounds like, if I understand you correctly, he's claiming $200 more than what you actually made from him. If the net gain on the gifts is 0, he's making a mistake. I use to do taxes, but something here doesn't sound right.
