I'm watching CNN right now...

Wesley Autrey just got a free weeklong trip to WDW for saving Cameron Hollopeter, who had a seizure and fell onto the subway tracks. He also got 1 years worth of free subway rides. One of the WDW ambassadors was just speaking about it.

This is very cool, and a awesome reward for someone who did the right thing. It's refreshing to see some good news coming from NYC finally :drevil:

Its big news here in NY...Its about time we hear about the good people do instead of the bad. With little regard for his own saftey he helped a person in trouble and then thought of his kids who witnessed it all, he wanted them to know he was ok.

:sohappy::sohappy: To the Disney Company and the MTA for recognizing a true hero.

That guy had stones and heart...really impressed to hear that Disney stepped up to recognize him.

I read that he's being offered all sorts of rewards - personally, I can't recall someone who's so deserving. I am still amazed at what he did...and then he went to work afterwards, probably dirty and smelling like crap.

Is this part of the year of a million dreams? Lol....It's not that I'm trying to make light of the situation, but it just seems so random of Disney to do this. How did they decide that THIS was the guy to reward?

*I'm not complaining or anything, and I think it's great, I was just curious.

A truly, truly deserving person! I read the story and I am just amazed at what he did. We toss around the word "hero" so often. This is one of the few times that the word truly is appropriate to describe this human being.

It's not that Odd, back in the FL Wildfires, a local girl was saving every penny she had to go to Disney for the day with her family. She finally got enough money for a ticket and decided to spend it on water and food for the firemen. Disney cought wind and her family got an honorary vacation.

Congrats to this man as well!

This was an uncommon-for-around-these-parts type of heroic act. On top of that, he had to do it in front of his kids. While momentraily trapped under the subway, trying to prevent the guy who was having a seizure from touching the third rail (which would have fried them both) he was shouting out that he was OK so his kids wouldn't worry.

Anyway, it's a publicity stunt and not much more, but IMHO it IS going out to the sort of person who deserves acts of kindness. Hell, if it were up to me, I'd ask WDW to give trips to every decorated soldier returning from Iraq and their families too. Heck, every soldier returning from Iraq, period.

A well deserved Hero! Mr.Autrey also received from the N.Y. film academy future scholarships to it's teen program for his daughters plus $5,000. His 6yr old daughter was on a cell phone with her mother telling her that Daddy jumped in the subway! and that Daddy's dead! But then heard her father calling to them telling both girls that daddy was ok. I am glad everything worked out for everyone:wave:

I wonder who gave the OK at the MTA for the free pass....the new boss just started today unless the Chairman gave the approval.

I think it's very well deserved!!!!

Well he did receive NY's highest honor today so maybe Bloomberg gave it to him... but does it really matter?
