POR to EPCOT/Magic Kingdom

I see on the map that POR is actually pretty close to EPCOT. Is it quicker to drive there and hop the monorail (if you're going to MK) or is it quicker to take the bus? I know those busses sometimes have to stop at other places. But since POR is so close, to EPCOT at least, does the bus go straight from there to EPCOT without any stops, or does it stop along the way? What about to MK? Would it be quicker to drive there or to the TTC or to EPCOT and take the monorail, or is it quicker to take the bus?

Personally I think hat by the time you drive to Epcot, park, walk up the ramp to the monorail, board the monorail, ride to TTC, then switch monorails to get to MK, you'd really have wasted a lot of time. I'd just take the bus right from POR.

Ya, that's a good point. Probably true. So what about driving from POR to MK as opposed to taking the bus? Does the bus waste alot of time on other stops, or does it go straight there?

The bus would stop at all the POR stops (3?) then go directly to MK. If you drive over there, you'll have topark at the TTC, then either take the ferry or monorail over to the MK. The bus will bring you to the MK, thus avoiding the TTC.

How about this twist, we are staying at the French Quarter, and renting a Car, Better to drive to Epcot? or bus, and feelings for the other parks.

Thanks.

Dh likes to drive to all he parks except for MK. I don't mind the busses at all, and if you're at POFQ, you are picked up first, so you're pretty sure to get a seat.

PS Congrats to Jeff for making the final 10!

Thanks. However, saving time is only one thing to consider. IMO, taking the ferry or the monorail is part of doing the Magic Kingdom. I'm not sure I want to leave that part out, even if it will save me time.

btw, how is it that the bus can take you directly to the MK? I thought the whole point of the ferry and monorail is that there is a bunch of water between the Magic Kingdom and the rest of the world and you had to cross the water in one of those two ways. How is it that busses have direct access?

If you are using Disney transportation go straight to MK from your resort. MK is the one park that Disney transportation can be quicker then driving yourself.

I agree - I love that part of entering the MK - it's part of the magic.

This was instituted many years ago (probably the early 90's? and I would guess that it would be to ease congestion on the ferry and monorail.

Buses to and from resorts have had stops near the entrance to MK for at least the last few years. But if you want to catch a bus from MK to another park you have to take the monorail or ferry to the TTC (or walk down to Contemporary and use their buses).

My usual opinion on transportation is that whichever route includes the least amount of steps - take that! So in this case, definitely just take the bus. Less factors that could get involved like monorails stopped on the line, etc.
