Well, it appears that we have a very interesting rumor from Mousplanet stating:

"According to the British Columbia Film Commission, filming will be taking place next week in B.C. for a new Circlevision film for Epcot's Canada pavilion."

I find this to be spectacular news for World Showcase. Finally an update to a 24 year old show! This also means that it could reopen just in time for Epcot's 25th. Hmmm . . . Coincidence?

Also from the website, a pic of the newly painted Seas:

Now doesn't that just look great?

Someone here also mentioned that they were adding figures/animal/characters to the mural today.

I would get my hopes up for the film, if i hadn't heard so much about a Norway film that never came to be :(

I believe that the film used in the Canada pavillion at Epcot is the same one that debuted at Expo 67 in Montreal, I was there and remember standing in line for well over an hour to see it so that would make the film almost 40 years old!, it's about time they updated it.

Sorry, it's not the same film. If you're interested in the details, I believe they can be found in The Disney Encyclopedia A-Z.

That's correct. The film's copyright is either 1981 or 1982. I do agree that the theme song should stay (in some form), but the film dramatically needs an update. Thanks for the insight.

I also really like the new mural at the Seas. The old one was good, but this works well. I like the contrast with the white, though. I hope it stays on at least most of hte exterior. We'll know soon, I guess.

O' Canada is my favorite World Showcase attraction and even with that said, I can't be upset at all about any rumors for a new show. It would be GREAT if they would update the song (like Golden Dream was done a few years ago), but I would highly doubt that would happen.

My canadian friend who is visiting Disney this very week will be happy to hear this. We've been joking about Americans not knowing that Canadians don't still dress that way. Now if only Norway would get a new film and World Showcase could get one more ride along with SSE being updated, I'd be happy with just that with everything else that has happened for Epcots 25th. If they'd also work on WoL and update UoE Epcot would be as close to perfect as its been in a long time.

I guess the guy directing will be Louis Schwartzburg. He did visual effects for Any Given Sunday, Erin Brockovich, Men in Black 2, and Stuart Little 2.

Linda Folsom will be producing the film. She also worked on Soarin' Over California.

Jim Fillappone who has worked on numerous films including the X-Men movies, Fantastic Four, and Eight Below will be the pilot for the camera helicopter.

Max Penner who was a cinematographer for Rockin' Roller Coaster will be involved.

They will be taping from next Sunday to the following Friday in British Columbia.

Yeah... I feel pretty confident with this rumor. :D

Would love to see a new movie but also love the old one. Call me greedy but... why can't we have both? Old one at the 1/2 hour and new one at the hour? Just greedy on my part I guess. Hope they keep the Blue Nose in it, love that part. How about seats that swivel rather that the "Lean Rails that have been provided". They clearly do not support our weight or that of our children.

I'm going to second your opinion here. Although the Canada pavilion film bears a 1982 copyright, significant portions of it were presented in Montreal, 1967 at the Canadian Bell Telephone pavilion.

Here's a quote from a website with rememberances of Expo -
At the first stop, the Bell Telephone Pavilion, the children stood in open-mouthed wonder at being in the centre of a mammoth circular movie on Canada. They watched excitedly as red-coated Mounties seemed to ride over them in a precision drill, gasped as they "followed" a careening police car on a chase through city streets, and gasped again at the serene early-morning beauty of Canada's northland.

My own memories of the 67 film... the geese, the mounties, helicopter roundup, jets flying over the mountains... I don't remember the careening police car.

And I remember on first visit to Epcot (Center), fall 1982, thinking, "wow, I've seen this film before"

NO seats should not be put in swivel seats would make stupid kids sick as they sat spnning in them while their fat lazy parents paid no attention to their behavior. It's a 10 minute show stop being so lazy and stand up. The lean rails support the weight of people leaning, not sitting on them. I am amazed at how lazy some people are.

You know I had a long reply posted up for this but it's just not worth it. You're tired of lazy people, I'm tired of stupid people and I'll let it go at that.
