in May, I went to the world with my aunt and uncle. I finished everything on my plate, while my Aunt didn't finish her vegetables. The waiter said to my aunt to get up and sing cause she didn't finish her vegetables. Then he turned to me and told me to get up too cause... well I dont know why, cause I DIDNT DO NOTHING. And i told him that, and at first I refused, and he said "quit your whining and get up" So my aunt and I had to sing I'm a little teapot, and I was on a delay cause I didnt know the words, so I was repeating after my aunt. And i didnt even do nothing.

"Didn't do nothing" is a double neagitive, which means you are saying "did do something."

Just pointing that out. :lookaroun

Is that the kind of stuff they do at that place all the time? I'll have to tell my wife about that and she may rethink her choice to have that as one of our restaraunts. :lookaroun

I'm all for having fun, don't get me wrong. And I'm not against them doing that kind of thing. But my wife is very self concious about that kind of thing, and I am as well to some degree, although not as much as she. But being singled out and "picked on"...even though it's all in good fun...isn't something that either one of us probably wants to go through.

My wife also has a habit of not eating everything on her plate, so she would probably be a prime candidate to "get in trouble". Hmmm....maybe I should take her there after all! :D

Primetime is known for that atmosphere. It's alot of fun, but if you are sensitive to it or feel it would diminish your dining experience, perhaps consider going to the "bar" area and ordering milkshakes... or something from the bar, depending on your tastes. You'll still get a feel for the restaurant without the "hassle" of a waiter. :)

I didn't know there was a "bar area" option. I've never done Prime Time because I am quite sensitive to that sort of attention -- but I have always wanted to see the inside of it. Can you actually dine at the bar or is it just for milkshakes and such?

I'll have to warn my wife about that and see if she still wants to eat there. 50's was one of her picks so I guess it's up to her if we eat there or not. I might have to wait a while before I talk to her about it though. She's not quite as much of a WDW enthusiast as I am and not as big of a planner as I am and she's getting tired of me always talking about our trip, which is still 8 months away. So I may have to bring it up in a few weeks or a month or two.

BTW, if someone is told to get up and sing, or some other such thing, do they actually do it?

Most people do actually get up and sing. Also, I've noticed that most of us who eat there have a bit of the show-biz bug and welcome the chance to have the spotlight on us. The cast members seem to be really good at picking up on who wants to join in the fun and who doesn't. They will try to include everyone a little bit so no one feels left out, but they really zero in on the ones who obviously want to play along.

We've been to prime-time a couple of times and nothing like that has ever happened to us. Guess we just didn't "stand out" or something

This is precisely why I would never eat there.
I'm not an interactive audience participation kinda guy.
You want me to WHAT? Sing? I don't THINK soooooooooo!
 :o :lookaroun

I'm with you there. That sort of thing is enough to send me into a panic. Silly, I know, but that's me.
Having said that, I've eaten at the Prime Time several times and love the atmosphere. I haven't been singled out for anything yet (guess trying to blend into the woodwork has worked for me so far.) but it's such a homey feeling in there, that I probably wouldn't freak out as much as I might elsewhere.

quite a few years ago my mom and sister and I ate there and my mom was so silly.. she didn't finish the food off her plate so she was trying to put it all into one pile and then covering it up with her napkin so our "aunt"/waitress wouldn't notice she didn't finish...

my sister and I were laughing so hard at her.

she was really, really nervous that she'd have to sing... but I guess for some people they really do mind it.

it's a fun place though and it's sad to think that people would miss this place just cause they are scared of possibly being teased a bit... but to each his own!

I've had to wash my hands and then show them to "Mom" in the kitchen for approval that they were in fact clean before I could order my food.

I've had to do a "sobriety test" before and after ordering a cocktail on my 21st birthday.

I've had to ask the table's around me if they would like me to stand in the corner for my bad behavior by not setting the table for my family.

I've had the "Cousin"/waiter put the few remaining green beans that I had on my plate onto my fork and 'force feed' me because I ordered a s'more and didn't finish my vegetables.

It's all been in good fun and has helped make that place my favorite restaurant at WDW.
