First i'd like to send a massive congratulations to both Josh D'Amaro and Dana Walden. You are now in the role of a lifetime with a company that is loved by millions, if not billions, of people all over the world. I wish you both a great journey as you navigate the politics and difficulty of running a business & being creative.

In light of the recent announcement, I thought i'd share a number of things I had in mind that would make these two legends in their roles.

It's nothing too difficult or crazy, really.

DCA:
1. Bring back MV3D to the theatre in Hollywood land.
2. Bring back a play to Hyperion. How about the original Snow White, or, Aladdin?
3. Continue with Disneyland Forward, take out the entire area where monster's inc resides and march forward with Pandora.
4. Bring back the red car trolley on Buena Vista Street. Don't care how, just do it for the ambiance.
5. You can keep Marvel Land, but the collector and his industrial warehouse fortress powerplant should go somewhere else more interesting and the collector should restore the haunted hotel with different elevator profiles.
6. Convert Pixar Pier to something nicer. What about a Paradise Pier instead?
7. Add animatronics to Grizzly River Run. Seriously, why hasn't this been done by now?
8. Soarin Over USA but i'm so happy you're ahead of me on this.
9. Continue with Coco boat ride. I adore the three caballeros at WDW, I hope it's similar.

DISNEYLAND
10. Update Primeval World at DLRR. Keep it similar, but improve the animatronics.
11. Keep Space Mountain, but demolish literally everything else in Tomorrowland. Bring back a peoplemover track for a new peoplemover, a rocket ship attraction, a show in the rotating theatre. Nemo subs, Monorail can stay. Oh and please make autopia electric, didn't you announce this years ago?
12. Bring back Splash Mountain better than ever. Give Tiana an attraction in Disneyland Forward.
13. Add a family friendly, no height requirement attraction to Star Wars. This massive land only have 2 attractions is bonkers to me.
14. Make Rivers of America a national landmark, so no future leadership can change it. Same with Tiki Room.
15. Bring better merchandise for sale. I'm not in love with your current offerings, and especially not with the pricing.

... or if that's just not possible (which it is by the way), then at least give us more shows / entertainment, more benches / seating, better quality and generally healthier food, and bring back a healthy mix of originality / IP in new attractions. Stop bleeding the parks and experiences budget for your failure to create a decent and profitable movie. Be creative again, go back to your family roots. Spare no expense, we sure don't when we visit your park.

Thanks 🤙

I don't see the need for bringing back attractions which weren't that popular to begin with. I'd take a new Muppet attraction, but the old MV3D would be such a waste of money. Same with an old show. Once the surge of nostalgia wears off, the ride/show is emptier than before with more money wasted.

In the case of something like Captain Eo, it's only takes a couple people to operate it (technically only one, but you need coverage for lunches and breaks). So let's say three people at a time. But the maintenance cost is basically 0.

So even if it only gets a few hundred guests an hour, it's something. Especially when compared to something like Canoes, that requires an army to operate and can only get 240 guests an hour if every canoe is full.

Story time :

Back when ‘Captain EO Tribute’ was running at Disneyland, I was standing in the queue for my third showing for the day.
Yes, I’m a freak and I love that film.

Anyway, behind me were a young couple from Europe who were enjoying their first visit.
They were excited to see this presentation, as we had been talking since this was their first visit to the DLR.

I was interested in hearing what their reaction was after seeing this 30+ year old 80s movie starring Micheal Jackson.
I didn’t tell them this, I was just naturally curious since this was their first time experiencing it.
They sat a few rows in front of me, and soon the lights went down and the show started.

Once the show was over, I saw them again while we were all exiting the theatre.

When I asked them how they liked it, they both gushed about how ‘awesome’ it was and how much they loved it.
They were both really impressed and seemed pretty blown away.
Just imagine how much more blown away they would have been with all the original effects?

I then told them it’s good they timed their visit they way they did, as the Attraction was slated to close soon after a short re-run.
They were surprised to hear this, and said it should stay.

I then mentioned some people thought it was ‘too dated’ and ‘old fashioned’ and both of them then protested and said it was GREAT and didn’t feel ‘dated’ at all.
It should stay regardless, so more people such as themselves could have the chance to experience it.
They honestly seemed surprised they liked it so much.
I rather liked their response!

Moral of the story :

Fine art never ages.
And neither does Michael Jackson, for that matter!

Captain EO Rules.
