I half thought that it was for an elevator system. Does anyone know why they created that big a pit for an unload/load station?
Maybe it could be for the ride track/system? Since iirc the leaks said that the ride system was going to be similar to Journey into Imagination with Figment, so that's probably why

Rides that load and unload on different sides of the vehicle, you need elevators for guests with disabilities to cross over the tracks without taking the stairs

That's one possibility
Elevator pits are typically only 4’ - 5’ deep and accessed via a ladder in the shaft. This pit has a dedicated stair and is about 10’ deep (there’s a rough door opening that would be a minimum of 7’ tall).
