Or is this actually a start to convert Planet Watch into an Oceania themed land?

Don’t forget Barbie at Epcot
Barbie's Epcot show, oddly enough, was a smash hit with one very particular demographic - teenage boys and men (of any age). Why? During the number of rewrites, the show really wasn't working well in the eyes of certain entertainment executives. Some 50+ different versions of the show existed - 30 or so of them during the revision process between when the show had its first performance and a month later when it officially premiered the version much more commonly known. Lines, segments, costumes, entire songs, were added and deleted with regularity. One executive grew so bored with the show he suggested that a swimsuit segment be added - surely he'd stay awake then (and so would, naturally, the brothers and fathers of the girls who were the intended audience)?

And somehow it stuck. Incredibly. I was once told that Disney had even taken surveys about the show which independently verified that it was (and may still be) the most popular show among that demographic that Disney has ever produced in its parks. A statement I almost couldn't believe. Unfortunately, it didn't help the show stay open longer. It's a footnote on a footnote of Disney history, kind of like the hostage situation near Journey Into Imagination in 1992.

Not trying to be snarky but how long were you waiting in lines? AK is definitely not a full day park. I dont think many people will say it is…. Listen yea i guess if you choose to walk and stop and see everything in detail stop in every store etc…. But the park is far from a full day.
Longest line of the day was Kilimanjaro Safari which was maybe 45-60 minutes. Started around 10.30am and did - Kilimanjaro Safari, Gorilla Falls trail, Wildlife Express and a quick look around planet watch (we mis-timed it for the drawing class), lunch at Flame Tree BBQ, Nemo Musical, Tiger trail, Bird Flight show, ice cream, Avatar flight of passage, Avatar boat ride, Zootopia, Dinosaur, Everest x2 and a final go on flight of passage. Left the park at 8pm to go and eat at Jiko. Also did a couple of photopass stops.

Yes there was waiting round for shows to start and we prioritised the shows and walking trails because these closed at dusk or didn't have late show times and then we did the rides after 5pm, utilising the deluxe hotels extra hours time to have zero wait. But we also didn't do the Lion King show or any character meets. If you do all the animal trails and the three shows as well as all the rides its easy to fill the whole day.

Grab the whole family and snap some pictures alongside your Blue Heeler pals to remember this one-of-a-kind adventure. Plus, as part of your wild excursion, step outside to discover an experience with animals native to Bluey’s home country of Australia!
Just what we frickin' need -- it's not bad enough that crime in Florida is pervasive and rising, that people have forgotten how (or never learned how) to drive, and the developers are actively trying to pave every inch of open land, but now Disney wants to import a bunch of creatures (as if the boa constrictors and green iguanas* aren't bad enough) from AUSTRALIA, of all places, where EVERYTHING wants to KILL YOU!!!

* just 2 of 42 invasive species of flora and fauna found in Florida -- and that's what we know about... (Does not include Snowbirds or former residents of New York, New Jersey and Canada)

That’s a lazy argument and wrongly assumes children will only being interested in attractions related to know Disney characters. Like they don’t have the creative capacity to see beyond that.

And, again, even if Disney does work with an existing known and popular entity, which isn’t a bad thing in itself, at least do a good job with those attractions. Tell a story. Make it interesting. But nah, we settle for shallow nonsense that gets us noise like that horrible zootopia attraction. This is just more of that. As I said, they are appealing to Disney adults with no standards. As long as it’s Disney. Who cares.
I like how we use the "kids are so smart and they love Disney stuff without the characters!" as some sort of shield when its obviously more complicated than that. Look at stuff liek Maelstrom vs Frozen, one has 3x the line the other has, every single day... I wonder..?

People are talking about how they aren't sure the trains at AK can even accomodate this change... but that was never even in the conversation with regular Conservation Station...?

So clearly, kids DO prefer Disney characters in their attractions

You know what's funny?

Because it is Frozen. Even though the attraction is garbage (with one or two good moments here are there), people eat it up. You are proving my point. There is no incentive to do anything great because "look! its Elsa!" is good enough to many people now.

Fine....then make them good. As I said at the very beginning, Disney is very good at turning something very popular into an underwhelming park experience.

More proves your own point wrong right? You said "That’s a lazy argument and wrongly assumes children will only being interested in attractions related to know Disney characters. Like they don’t have the creative capacity to see beyond that."

You said that kids know better but then they absolutely love a ride filled with Disney characters and now its "well of course they will! It has a popular Disney character!"

Those two statements are at odds with each other

It's interesting to point out at one point at Ft Wilderness a few years back they did a scavenger hunt but, mysteriously had to be stopped. I'm assuming for legal reasons since there wasn't anything official in The parks at the time...

I hope you continue to enjoy the uninspired attractions though. Thanks for cheering on the downfall of WDW.

The old attraction was a few mannequins, a three headed troll, and a big finale plunging into an oil rig. Hardly a work of art.

Agreed it doesn't sound like much, but, ....I mean,...... yes, in retrospect it seems that anything else would have been a better idea than a rig????

But the thrill came (far more than the fall) from feeling that you just returned from the distant past back into the present.

So if one to were concede that point (which I personally don’t but that doesn’t really matter), they replaced it with something worse that doesn’t fit the pavilion? Their most popular princess, they decide to build something for her, and she gets an underwhelming attraction. So not only do they put something in the pavilion that didn’t belong, they put something that just isn’t that good. SMH. Still going on today. Sad.

A worse fit perhaps, but a better ride in general with better AAs and more comprehensible storyline.

If people want to settle for crap, that’s fine. Disney likes it. The new Disney Difference. “I can see Elsa. I can see Nick Wilde. I can see bluey.” That’s what matters now. Quality be damned.
The company has been going in the direction that you call crap for several years now.

Do you think it’s going to change?
