News Bluey To Join Disney Experiences at its U.S. Theme Parks and Cruise Line Beginning in 2025

Andrew C

You know what's funny?
They do. But not everything has to be a major attraction. It seems this is just a little side attraction to give kids a fun something to do between major rides.
A "side attraction" can still be done well, with interesting components. For instance, they could have done a real stage show with a lot of movement, really cool features and a strong story.

But they know they can get away with just throwing out Bluey to dance around, as kids will point and scream and Disney adults will eat it up. Zero incentive to do any more than that. See Zootopia as another example of something generally popular turned into something extremely underwhelming. Or the Villains show while we all wait for Villains land...could have done a real show...but we get absolute trash for something that deserves a lot more.

I forgot. What is it that they did?

???

It's my understanding that this is essentially a segue to bring in some Aussie animals with a fun "mascot" who loves animals in this case?

It's not as simple as they are dog so animal kingdom, only if you look at the post in the most surface level possible and didn't actually read anything about it.

I look at the utilization of these characters as Disney's most surface level possibility.

But to each their own.

Except we’ve been told that the parks must focus on franchises so therefore the implementation should reflect the power of a franchise, that parks investment should be made in direct response to box office and merchandise revenue. Bluey is a huge franchise.

If this moves into that buiding, what happens with the drawing section?
They said that when Magic of Disney Animation opens, they'll have an animation academy in the building. Makes sense to move Animation to Magic of Animation, then fill the old space with Bluey characters and an exhibition of Australian animals

Cheap...lazy....but people will exclaim "its so sweet!" Its no wonder Disney gets away with this stuff and continues to make money. The current crop of Disney fans have zero standards.
It's not for me so I straight up do not care.

They've done lazier in "prime Disney eras" like the Gummibears Motor Boat overlay.

It's for toddlers who want to see Bluey. It's not for you. Get over yourself.

Like. I'm not even that massive of a Disney fan. I straight up think the current state of the company is shameful and that a complete restructuring of management is due.

This isn't about having zero standards. This is about me being a mature adult who has accepted that Disney's largest audience is children who want to see Bluey and Elsa, and I think its preposterous to get online to the Disney Adult forum and mope about how Disney is appealing to their largest audience instead of "MrToadIsReallyAwesome69" on Twitter.

That’s a lazy argument and wrongly assumes children will only being interested in attractions related to know Disney characters. Like they don’t have the creative capacity to see beyond that.

And, again, even if Disney does work with an existing known and popular entity, which isn’t a bad thing in itself, at least do a good job with those attractions. Tell a story. Make it interesting. But nah, we settle for shallow nonsense that gets us noise like that horrible zootopia attraction. This is just more of that. As I said, they are appealing to Disney adults with no standards. As long as it’s Disney. Who cares.

How do you know what it is if they haven’t even started yet?

Wouldn't Bluey fit better in Hollywood Studios? Surely they could take out the Mickey Shorts Theater and put something Bluey in there...
I really don’t see this as any different than getting to meet Kevin or Timon and Pumbaa at Animal Kingdom personally
This is a nitpick, but there's never been a Pumbaa meet and greet in Animal Kingdom.
Kids getting to see their favorite character from the TV while learning about Australian native animals? The horror.
We heard the same "they're gonna make this fit in Animal Kingdom, we swear!" claim when the Zootopia show was under construction, and look at how THAT turned out.

And could we please stop suggesting that they put Moana in Animal Kingdom too? Animal Kingdom is not, nor was it ever intended to be, just a larger version of Adventureland.

Animal Kingdom is a full day park it’s had the expansions, just a lot of people don’t want to take the time to see everything it has to offer. We went on a day with evening extra hours and filled 10.30am to 8pm.
Not trying to be snarky but how long were you waiting in lines? AK is definitely not a full day park. I dont think many people will say it is…. Listen yea i guess if you choose to walk and stop and see everything in detail stop in every store etc…. But the park is far from a full day.

A Bluey meet and greet and a permanent Zootopia attraction are two entirely different discussions.

I agree with you, and Disney did, too, because the place used to be open to 8 or 9 for normal guests regularly and as recently as 2023.

I hate how people act like they're somehow forced into the ridiculous 6 o'clock closures.
