Live-Action reimagining of Moana

Eventually they're going to run out of originals to remake.
Hard disagree on that one. The only thing that will stop them is a few of these being major flops in a row. Not slightly underperforming but undeniable flop, Snow white style. And that's not even a gimme as we saw with stitch. As long as every few there's a hit, they are going to keep chasing it. They will start remaking the remakes if they have to. But they still have pixar and plenty of traditional animated films to try and milk. So we don't need to worry about that yet.

How about Muppets Toy Story!

They can set it at Christmas time instead of a birthday. Gonzo could play the Woody part. Rizo could be Slinky Rat. Kermit could narrate. Miss Piggy from Pigs in Space could be Buzz Lightyear.

I'm talking about Live-Action remakes of Disney animated features. Or sequels to recent Disney animated features.

Calling a Pixar movie "a Disney animated feature" to me is inaccurate at best, and deliberately misleading at worse.
I bet the average person (one that does not follow all the Disney news)thinks of Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Cars as Disney even before Disney bought Pixar

Also do is Megan just Blumhouse and not Universal or is The Batman DC and not Warner Brothers

Hey now, Disney already has enough dumb ideas. We certainly don't need to give them more. Especially when it comes to the Muppets.

Awe cmon, a remake of The Christmas Toy (1986)? That’s just plain sacrilege.

This looks awful and completely unnecessary. I wish DIS would have done one live action one every five years. Make it a spectacle. But they turned on the fire hose and now we are getting remakes of movies less than ten years old. It is like they are saying “animation is not good enough” so here is a live action instead and it is cheapening their legacy.

IMO, it just highlights how pointless these live action remakes are. If the film was perfected in animation, made by the same film company, why on earth would you remake it into something that doesn’t take its very intentional stylization, creative decisions, & art direction into consideration? And the reason why it was an animated film to begin with. Like.. cmon.

Tbh, I’m shocked The Rock wouldn’t have wanted to produce an original, musical live action (possibly animation hybrid film) or another story w potential not yet adapted with Disney, with him starring in it. We always wish for like, the next Mary Poppins, the next Three Caballeros, the next Bedknobs & Broomsticks, the next Pete’s Dragon.. but it seems we never get it. Do they really not trust their creative talent to come up with something just as good as something like the original Moana? It makes no sense. wouldn’t it have been cooler to involve John Musker & Ron Clements in making a new animation/live action hybrid that would’ve been the next step for them as animation directors? I’m just sayin’

Honest to God, why in the world would you get this proven, world class talent brought in, to literally just… remake the very same thing without as much soul or intentional creative vision that won’t have as much marketing/merchandising or rewatch/reshow value? I seriously don’t get it. I mean.. I do get it, but I don’t at the same time. You know what I mean. lol

If they really wanted the same movie.. why not just.. rerelease that same movie in theaters?? Have a big marketing campaign behind it in new merch, popcorn buckets, sippers, whatever. Maybe include some theatrical exclusive bonus behind the scenes featurettes or some bonus material after the movie (maybe a new animated short with it, maybe one featuring the characters) or something along those lines to see. That’d have much more merit and celebrate their talent and craft in animation & filmmaking much better

What immediately comes to mind.. the 80s re-release of The Rescuers with Mickey’s Christmas Carol placed before it. (Think in the UK it was shown before The Jungle Book). But yeah, If marketed properly, this would be a great business plan going forward for them. Imagine say, brand new Mickey & Friends cartoon shorts, etc. placed before these, and again, maybe BTS contents on the making of both the new short and/or some stuff about the film we just watched that perhaps we hadn’t seen before?

I can immediately think right now. Imagine a re-release of The Jungle Book. Merch, tie-in marketing, and before or after the movie, a brand new short, plus, maybe a talk with Andreas Deja. Imagine that, what if Andreas came in to direct/animate a new short starring the characters. What’s happened since we last saw them? Maybe we could get a talk with him afterwards, talking about the influence & inspiration the film & characters brought him as an animator, etc.

That stuff would be worth going to the theater to see. Especially if a theatrical re-release exclusive.
