Here's the first teaser for Moana, in theaters July 10, 2026:

God I hope you're right. I'm not going to bet on it, but I hope you're right. That wasn't a long trailer but it looks like it will be a pretty one to one remake. The nostalgia pull is going to be strong with this one me thinks.

Hasn't Miranda been working on new songs/music for this? (It's part of why he didn't do the songs for Moana 2.) That would imply that there will be additional sequences added, if nothing else.

I'd bet on a new song or two. It still looks like it will be a mostly beat for beat remake. I guess we'll see how the first story trailer goes. That should be a better gauge of how the same it will be.

But would anybody watch them… I would…. But I see great original movies all the time…, that never find an audience theatrically

Also Disney still makes original movies… Elio this past summer and Hoppers is arriving in March
Eventually they're going to run out of originals to remake.

Both of those examples are Pixar films.

In case you have not heard…. Pixar is Disney…. Just like 20th Century, Searchlight, Marvel, and Lucas film are all Disney

Did you see Springsteen…. That was a Disney film and a story that has not been told before on film

Springsteen is not a Disney movie. It is not branded as such or intended for the same audience.

The whole point of having all these brands is to appeal to those who would otherwise not sit through a Disney movie

"Disney" refers to something specific (or at least did) and it's safe to say people wanting original, or unproduced stories from Disney don't necessarily want literally anything from any studio or sub brand as long as it's not a sequel or remake

This is honestly just semantics at this point.

Everyone knows at this point Pixar is Disney. Marvel is Disney. Lucas is Disney. 20th Century and Searchlight are Disney.

It might not have the Disney castle logo on it, but they are Disney. Produced by Disney and funded by Disney. And even tallied as such in the box office thread.

Heck its so much so seen as Disney that we've had posters here advocating for the closure of the Pixar facility in Emeryville and merging them into WDAS in Burbank.

So this idea its not "Disney" unless its branded as Disney with the castle logo is silly at this point.

I'm talking about Live-Action remakes of Disney animated features. Or sequels to recent Disney animated features.

Calling a Pixar movie "a Disney animated feature" to me is inaccurate at best, and deliberately misleading at worse.

Always enjoy pointing out that a movie like Con Air was produced and distributed by The Walt Disney Company
