The "House of Magic" shop at Magic Kingdom

Attractions at Disneyland that were, once upon a time, also at WDW:
  1. Toad
  2. Snow White dark ride
  3. Tom Sawyer Island
  4. Riverboat
  5. Shootin' Arcade
  6. Penny Arcade (to a degree at least?)
  7. Main Street Cinema
  8. Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes
  9. Submarine Voyage (though IPified)
  10. (although always labeled a shop at MK it was very-much like an attraction): Magic Shop
  11. Dinosaur diorama (seemed very similar to highlight of Universe of Energy)
....NM all the attractions always exclusive (at least in US) to Disneyland Park:
  1. Alice in Wonderland,
  2. Grand Canyon Diorama
  3. Casey Jr.
  4. Gadget Coaster (though seems similar to Barnstormer?)
  5. Matterhorn
  6. Roger Rabbit
  7. Pinocchio
  8. Columbia
  9. Canal Boats
  10. Walt Disney a Magical Life (but hopefully this will be incorporated in CoP?)
I've mentioned it once before, what struck my best friend (who's a WDW AP holder) most profoundly about his recent visit to Disneyland was its sheer variety/volume of attractions (& in a place much smaller than Magic Kingdom)...I long-before resolved that IFFFFF I found myself in the area I would concentrate my visit either to what's unique to Disneyland or what's vastly superior at Disneyland (Pirates, etc).
I have both a DL Magic Key and a WDW AP. I love both, but DL as a park is overall superior. I don't like DCA as well as the other WDW parks (you'll start a riot mentioning that to Californians, though...) and spend the majority of my time in DL.

There are definitely things I prefer over at WDW (MK fireworks...watched DL fireworks over the summer and was like "what is this?") but I walk into MK in general and am disappointed it's not DL.

While compiling my lists I realized that I'd likely be "lucky" to complete my lists in just one day (depending on day/season). That being said (as I don't see how I'll ever be in the area...but "never say never" lol), I'm most-extremely-grateful for experiencing the attractions that are no longer in WDW's MK but still in DL.

Confectionary is probably safe in perpetuity.
  1. It's "monetized."
  2. Similar to how Emporium gobbled-up most of the space of west Main Street building, they just finished "expanding" Confectionary into the storefronts along town square (so now eastern Main Street building is essentially one room south of Main Street Cinema store.
Probably, and there's always people in there. But I am an adult who loves cotton candy. Ironically, you get more for cheaper in MK than elsewhere (especially me when I add on my AP discount) and I swear it's better than stuff I get anywhere else. I go in there, and a lot of times I will grab one right from the CM as they are putting it down. I have to hide it from my family because they will steal it.

I usually spend five days in DL and do other stuff in the area. There is a ton to do in Disneyland and it's nice to stop and enjoy. I only do GOTG in Avengers Campus but spend a ton of time just watching the different shows. Deadpool was there when I was there last year; he was hysterical. I live in Baltimore and can get a non-stop to Long Beach Airport now and a red eye non-stop back from LA. That used to not be a thing, but I can get out there fairly easily now. Not as easily as WDW with the 10-12 non-stops to MCO per day...anyway.

Last year I went out and did San Diego for a few days (I can also get a non-stop to San Diego), then drove up to Anaheim. I did Disneyland and Knott's. Anaheim is central to a bunch of stuff, and the big thing is that area of Anaheim is safe. I'm a five foot woman who had no issue walking around there or San Diego at night alone.

I'm excited about the non-stops to Japan just announced...I may get my visit to Tokyo Disneyland after all (& I keep hearing/reading DisneySea is the epitome of theme parks).

Somehow, I had relatives on both sides of the family who went last year. They didn't bring me back and Disney souvenirs and I'm still salty about it.

From everything I've read/seen it seems Anaheim & San Diego are California's two best major cities to visit right now...by far.

San Diego is amazing. I want to go back next year if I can swing it.

I walked through an empty parking lot at night and was wary and alert, but had zero issues. There are not many places you can say that...at all. I went to Boston last year and felt safe there, but I still felt like San Diego was safer. I got randomly approached by a dude in Boston in broad daylight near the Common; never had that happen in San Diego. I walked around Old Town at night by myself when the restaurants had closed to get back to my hotel, and the worst thing that happened was nearly getting hit by an insane driver...lesson learned; I started keeping the flashlight on my phone on when walking. Anaheim I think has pockets of bad areas, and I noticed a few mentally ill homeless people when walking back to my hotel, which made me sad, but I never felt unsafe.

Growing up in Baltimore, you develop a sense very quickly of "this is safe, this is not."

Was reflecting on this more...most will never know what it was like....it was a different room, a different experience, going through most of the thresholds of most the MSUSA storefronts. East Main Street is still, somewhat, varied, but still not nearly as much as it was at its "peak"
