‘Zootopia 2’ will open in theatres later this month and make stupid money I am sure.
Probably another record breaking opening weekend.

Disney will look at that and consider this ‘new Theme Park experience’ to be a success.

I mean….this is likely the main reason we have this new show to begin with….just a advert for ‘Zoo 2’.
All part of the promotional push to hype up the movie sequel release.
Not the first time we have seen this in the Parks…

So it sadly does not matter if this show is ‘any good’ or of quality.
All that matters to those in charge is that is gets ‘Zootopia’ branding and characters in front of people to promote the new film.
It is simply a marketing tool…maybe even partially paid for by marketing dollars related to the film…..and it will be looked at as a success.

Nothing will be learned.

Guest Satisfaction scores will naturally be ‘better’ simply because of the elimination of the former shows ‘scary elements’.
Once again, this will be seen by Disney as a sign of success and a job well done.

Call me cynical, but this is today’s Disney….and has been for some time now.

But hey, we get a nice AA figure at least.
While he is fully working….at the moment……so go enjoy.
Just don’t touch that giant ball of….um….recycled plant fibers on the way in.

Still pales in comparison to Hopper, plus we lost Flik which while only a head, was just as effective in the story as Clawhauser.

Agree on everything you said though. The movie will make stupid money and will at least temporarily drive guests to the new show. WDW gets enough one-time guests to keep it going for a while.

Can we just imagine for a second how this show would be received at DLR???

Hopper was awesome.
Going to miss that guy…

Hoping that AA was saved for the Archives…or is haunting a warehouse somewhere.

I know that some people at Disney read our threads, so I would like them to think about this:

What elements of rides and attractions actually resonate with people?

Sometimes it's the special effects
Sometimes it's the storytelling
Sometimes it's the fact that what the ride physically does is fun
Sometimes it's that it immerses you into a different reality
Sometimes it gets you to see things a little differently
Sometimes it's neat little touches like subtle details, or impressive lighting, or well-designed audio cues, etc.

And sometimes, when a ride is extraordinary, it's all of that.

But Better Zoogether? Absolutely none of this.

Simply showing the characters the audience is already familiar with, doing the things they did in the movie, is never the part that actually resonates with people.

The design philosophy behind this attraction is essentially Disney assuming that all of their guests are going to do the "Leo pointing at the screen" meme for this attraction over and over and be entertained.

Leo-pointing.jpg

And while yes, some guests will still be entertained by this, most will see it as forgettable at best.

Disney, please take a step back and let this be the last attraction like this and realize your attractions should strive to be memorable and engaging.

The magic of the House protects the village from marauders (you know, the ones that kill grandma's husband).

Without that magic, there could be hundreds of deaths from militia groups.

Luisa was noticing her magical ability starting to waver, and if that was a sign of everyone's magic going away... it would indeed be a portent of massive deaths as the magical shield went away.

But the question remains: what made granny so damn special that losing her husband got her a magic candle and superpowers for the kids?

That’s why I drew the parallel to Monster House….Casita isn’t just a magical house, it’s Grandpa.
And when the house is falling apart, that’s grandpa getting Coco’d into final death.

They didn’t remember him.

Also, what deaths? Because as far as I could tell the marauders weren’t around anymore. And what was even their deal? They’re unredeemably evil because the plot demanded it. They must have gotten a copy of the script during one of their night raids.

Seems to me she was worried about granny flipping out and not seeing her as useful anymore.

Because Heaven forbid that some freeloading villager have go and round up their own donkeys!

Anyway, Granny is essentially Thomas Jefferson levels of “hey let’s enslave the kids and grandkids!” She’s the real villain of the movie.

Reason #171 why the Zoogether Day falls flat: You need prior knowledge of the characters to make some sense of the plot.

By contrast, It’s Tough to Be a Bug! opened seven months before A Bug’s Life even hit theaters, yet it still managed to introduce characters and a concise premise clear enough that anyone could follow along—no background knowledge required.

Frankly, the fact that Encanto is apparently the defacto Disney movie of the decade so far is just a symbol of how far the company has fallen to me. It was a very forgettable, middle of the road movie.
I’m still wondering what the point of the movie is, because as far as I can tell, it’s just a hodgepodge of ideas from other movies that never satisfactorily gets explained.
I found Encanto just okay myself. I'm not against it getting an attraction, but I am against it being put in a park where it doesn't fit.

If they used the Beyond Big Thunder space for an Encanto attraction - and made it clear it wasn't part of Frontierland, where it obviously wouldn't fit either - I'd have no problem with that. Heck, I'd even rather see it put in Adventureland than Animal Kingdom.

I think it would be a mistake to put something "for kids" inside the centerpiece of the park. That's a place from something broad in appeal.

They could have even made a Zootopia show that's broad in appeal, but they chose not to. Slapstick, butt jokes, dumb puns. It's the most basic writing possible for animation. I can't find a single thing that's particularly clever or smart in there. It would have at least been funny and self aware if they set up one of these obvious jokes and then failed to land the visual gag punchline (on purpose), then have Nick look at the camera sheepishly (since unlike the Zootopia movie, in this show he knows he's on camera). That would be endearing in a particularly Jason Bateman way, and a way to wink-wink to adults that we know this humor is dumb-fun, this is for the kids.

If this was Disney’s approach to everything it would be different… for a single show I can shrug and say not everything is going to be for every guest. If people want all the feels there’s Happily Ever After, for example. I’m sure there will be sure a new tearjerker short out on Disney+ this Christmas, and so on. Better Zoogether is maybe an option for kids or just a chance for some goofy fun. I know people are upset because it replaced ITTBAB, but compared to some of the other shows (Disney Jr. show, Frozen singalong, Beaty and the Beast singalong) I’d say it’s an upgrade.

I honestly don’t think most are upset with Bug being replaced, more that it didn’t get a comparable or better replacement.

I can’t wait to read here how the GSAT’s show that the guests just can’t get enough of this new show.

Even though we can all see with our own eyes it’s terrible, the usually defenders of garbage will be here telling us how good it surveys.

It’s Disney Magic !!

People have given plenty of reasons it's a bad show. The problem isn't that it's a replacement, the problem is it sucks.

"It must be for kids" is the dying cry of something indefensible. Adults can enjoy a good laugh: there are zero reasons Disney can't have written a solid comedy show that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Kids wouldn't have been upset if their parents were also laughing or if the plot wasn't confusing or if the twist didn't suck.

Edit: I do disagree with Dr. Starlander's idea, though; the show didn't need an acknowledgement it sucks, it needs to not suck.

I think the replacement was definitely an audience shift, which was unexpected. This is definitely an upgrade for most 5-year-olds, probably a downgrade for many Millennials and GenXers probably.

I will also say this is not even getting into how well this fits AK thematically. But I've kinda let that one go as this one is hidden in a tree.

Im mostly upset that Animal Kingdom is getting the same dumbing down as both Epcot and Hollywood Studios before it.

ITTBAB’s central thesis was that insects are amazing and we really should treat them with the same respect as other animals.

Zootopia’s central theme is “Catch Zootopia 2 in theaters soon, and Zootopia shorts on Disney Plus”.

In effect, it’s little more than a 3D trailer…might as well be Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow or Narnia walk throughs to advertise the franchise.
