From what I heard, Imagineers pretty much told execs they can't mess with ToT and that they refuse to work on anything that has to do with a retheme of it. How true that is, I don't know, but I hope it is.
Honestly, I don't think an IP mandate is bad. People come to Disney World to see the Disney characters they love. The problem we've had is the terrible product that has come out, which to me speaks more about the quality of imagineers than Bob Iger's desire to make use of his IP. Take TBA. Yes, it's difficult to come up with a solid strategy to retheme Splash into a Tiana ride, but there are plenty of directions you could take it that would be more compelling and create an overall better attraction than what we got. Bob didn't sit in a meeting and ask for the secret ingredient to be music. That's the imagineers.
