Tiana's Bayou Adventure Effects Status Watch

Okay, I've gotta ask... what exactly are they spending the money they make from the price increases on? It's clearly not for their new attractions or for maintenance of the existing ones...
They would really prefer to spend no money and just raise prices like they have done forever, but to answer your question, they are destroying RoA, TSI to put in a Cars attraction.

It's interesting that Disneyland’s is operating in probably its best condition in its time as Tiana’s while Disney World's is probably operating at its worst. All I could see wrong is the first Louis' mouth not working. Also props to them for keeping the mist on the dip drop and big drops working.

I heard this attraction was designed to go into Disneyland and simply cloned and installed into WDW they best they could? Don’t know how true it is.

About half of the animatronics weren’t working properly when I rode (twice, on two separate days) last week, and the final screen wasn’t on. As derided as they’ve been on this site, the critter musicians are the best thing about the attraction—at least they’re cute and move reliably, even if they’re not true animatronics.

It boggles my mind that they can’t maintain what is essentially still a new ride. Even with all the effects working, it would be a downgrade in my eyes, but what we’ve ended up with is just depressing to witness.
I normally don’t return to WDW so soon after a trip but, for various reasons, found myself there again a few days ago, only a couple of months after I posted the above. I’m happy to say the ride was in much better shape overall, though still far from perfect. Unlike Splash Mountain, which could still entertain even with lots of broken components, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure places so much emphasis on a relatively small number of high-tech animatronics that any malfunction can really bring down the whole experience. With most things working this time, I was able to enjoy the ride a lot more.

They could’ve added a disclaimer in MULTIPLE places along the queue and I would’ve even been ok with some signage ON the ride, so intelligent guests would’ve been able to draw their own conclusions for historical context, but NO, TWDC RUINED not only the BEST attraction on property, but its subpar, underachieving, bush league replacement…I have ZERO point ZERO sympathy for the company, the imagineers that drank the corporate kool-aid and the staunch influencers & guests that defended the change and the replacement…congratulations, you truly HAVE a dark ride…

Every day 40-50 thousand people visit Magic Kingdom.

If we go with 45,000 per day to meet in the middle and assume every fifth person rides Tiana's, that's 3,285,000 people who rode this ride (most likely for the first time) and had at least one major show element blatantly broken.

Which is ridiculous before you even take into account the fact that it's a screen and really shouldn't be easy to break or hard to fix.

Would they like a cookie? Seriously, leaving an effect broken on a brand new attraction for a year is a blunder on yeti level
IMHO, this is even MORE egregious for the simple fact that TWDC KNEW Tiana would face the highest scrutiny because of the negative publicity of its predecessor…all of the pressure should have been on them to go above & beyond to achieve the ultimate success. It just seems like the imagineers built it, supervised the installation of the AA’s & components, made sure it worked for the first few weeks then washed their hands and walked away…

At least with the Yeti, it wasn’t an existing attraction or a reskin where the problem could’ve been addressed during that conversion. As disappointed as I am with the Yeti, there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for the problems with Tiana.

Lets face it does any RATIONAL, INTELLIGENT, COMPETENT die hard fan on here REALLY BELIEVE the new Cars attraction isn’t going to have the same quality problems & issues after it opens? Villians land? Big Thunder? The NEW CoP?

I sure don’t…

You're being way too optimistic; I think it was the exact opposite. They knew that so long as the thing didn't burn to the ground killing hundreds on opening day people would rush to defend it and so they didn't need to bother.

I brought up this same "hugely controversial ride change handled with all the care of Goofy handling a priceless vase so what hope to we have for other places?" logic in the Dinosaur removal thread and had people claim you can't use Tiana's as evidence things won't go well because it was changed for political reasons. As if that somehow made them have no choice but to make the ride suck and have it break immediately.

That’s why I DON’T want the speedway or SM to be touched…they BOTH work & I happen to LOVE the smell of Napalm oops, I mean exhaust in the morning…

Am I going crazy or is Louis missing in the Zydeco scene? Like even when the cameras stay straight ahead they can see him a bit
