It's not that far fetched to have a show themed to animals coexisting under a tree that shows animals coexisting. Because clearly, this tree doesn't belong in the park because it defies nature

They're carvings all using the same piece of wood. They're not supposed to be all the animals actually hanging around each other and being okay with it. Edit: not literally a single carved piece of wood but that is what it's supposed to look like.

By this logic, the tree also portrays multiple aquatic species living well outside of water. There's also dinosaurs on it, so I guess Disney is saying dinosaurs are alive and well and exist among modern animals.

OR... it's simply an art piece and not meant to literally be animals sitting next to each other and is not meant to be a statement that T-rexes should get along with macaws.

Unlike Zootopia, which is literally about predator and prey being friends.

Iconic attractions and structures like the Contemporary, splash Mountain and spaceship earth all had their design origins within WDI. Same thing with ride systems that were unique to Disney they weren’t subbed out.

Modern day buildings like the Riviera or the Polynesian Tower or whatever they’re building on Bay Lake, there’s nothing there that’s unique to the heritage of WDI.

The message in that film has nothing to do with nature or conservation but could be misinterpreted as such. Therefore it should not be included in a park about nature and conservation.

The message in its ITTBAB is also not even tangentially related to animals as well. Same thing with the actual message in Lion King. Ironically, the message that would fit the most in AK would be the ones in (parts of) Pocahontas, Avatar, or at times Jungle Book

As I already pointed out in my last post, even an iconic structure like Spaceahip earth was subbed out to outside contractors for architecture and structural engineering. This stuff has never been handled entirely in house. You just fell for the marketing and PR. Disney didn’t handle the architecture or engineering of the tree of life in house either.

You should educate yourself on the history of the contemporary.

WDI has a long history of receiving credit for the work of outside contractors, vendors, architects and engineers

There’s a whole [dubious] story with the Contemporary about Welton Becket not wanting the monorail to go through “his” building. The Contemporary and the Polynesian were both engineered by US Steel.

The only Disney hotel that was significantly designed in-house by Walt Disney Imagineering is the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris.

How many talented people did WDI lose over the past 5-8 years - when the whole relocation fiasco occurred? How many defected to the competition?

The number is not insignificant, especially considering what was lost.

My understanding is talent flow reversal started up significantly 3 years ago. There isn’t a ton of Florida based work for Universal and some of those project leads moved to Disney a while ago. You are a bit stuck on a time point that was as you say a half decade+ ago, it’s more appropriate to say talent was gutted and has been messily reconsolidating ever since. Even for front facing talent there are a few heavy hitters still left.

I’m sure once Abu Dhabi is significantly designed the global team will dramatically shrink again - unless there is another new gate. It’s a pretty normal ebb and flow for this company, even if 2020 was an extreme.

Gensler was the lead designer and architect for new Epcot.

They were not. Design of the unbuilt Festival Center was outsourced and lead by DS+R. Stantec served as the architect (and landscape architect) for everything else in the CommuniCore area that was lead by Disney. Stantec would have been the architect of record for the festival center too.

Cosmic Rewind was PGAV Destinations.

Ratatouille was BRPH.

Can anyone explain the fog burst/screen going white scene? What were they trying to emulate there?

With the Bear in the pipe? Pretty sure it's supposed to be snow, but it doesn't make sense in hitting the audience. Also every video I've seen of the show has the fog starting before the Bear is unwedged. You'd think they'd have that timing down.

If y’all have read the John Hench book “Designing Disney: Imagineering and the Art of the Show”, he takes credit for having the engineering idea of hanging the bottom quarter of Spaceship Earth from a supported deck to complete the full sphere, as, apparently, that was a bit of a conundrum.
Just throwin’ that out there…
